8 Sofia Integrated Urban Transport Project EUROPEAN REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT FUND nvesting in your future Component 1 Intelligent Traffic Management System (ITS) Purpose priority for public transport vehicles at certain signalized intersections Criteria for choice of intersections biggest delays of public transport vehicles Component scope: ITS equipment for 20 intersections, with plan to reach 150 ITS equipment in 750 PT vehicles Total value of the contract: EUR 5.1 mln, VAT not incl. Period of implementation: April-October 2015

13 Sofia Integrated Urban Transport Project Component 8 Rehabilitation of tram line along Bulgaria Blvd. Purpose renewal of one of the oldest but most intensively used tram lines, increase of the operational speed and decrease of the maintenance costs Scope of the component replacement of 3.7 km double track and catenary incl.: 80% on ballast prism 20% on concrete slab 13 new stations incl. electronic information boards and new shelters. Contract value: EUR 4.3 mln, VAT incl. Period for implementation: July 2013 Nov 2014.

17 Modernization of Sofia urban transport financed by Operational Program Environment The contract is signed between municipal transport company "Metropoliten" EAD and OAO Metrovagonmash Scope of delivery: 10 new metro trains The contract is completed in 2014 and the rolling stock is in operation.

18 Modernization of Sofia urban transport financed by Operational Program Environment The contract is signed between municipal transport company Stolichen Electrotransport" EAD and PESA Bidgosz Scope of delivery: 20 low-floor trams The contract is completed in 2014 and the rolling stock is in operation.

19 Modernization of Sofia urban transport financed by Operational Program Environment The contract is signed between municipal transport company Stolichen Avtotransport" EAD and MAN Trucks and Bus AG Scope of delivery: 126 low-floor CNG buses The contract is under implementation - 86 buses are delivered and are currently in operation.

20 Electric bus pilot project The bus uses ultra capacitor charging faster than usual batteries. The charging takes about 7 minutes, enough for a 30 km run. Max.speed - 80 km/h. Capacity - 90 passengers (32 seats). The bus operates on trolleybus line 11. Charging at the final stops on the route. 20

23 Sofia Main Priorities Within the Integrated Project Phase 2 - New tramway tracks and major repair of existing infrastructure. Some of the tracks were build between New tramways delivery - Increase ITS intersections give priority to PT - Extension of the electronic ticketing system and in buses and introduction of smart card for the entire PT. II Metrodiameter to be finalized, III Metro-diameter is being prepared to start and central part to be finalized by And relative change of its supporting transport.

24 Tariff Policy Optimization and reorganization according to EU standards. Time-based or zone-based ticket to be introduced. EBRD Funds - 5 new tramways, buses, ITS intersections and control centre. Increase the use of PT and decrease car use by attracting the economically active part of the population to PT!

25 25 The FLOW Project and cycle to work campaigns Sofia will develop and run a cycling campaign in at least 5 major companies, 6 weeks each with the aim motivate and change behaviour of employees toward cycling through workplace-based campaigns. Several cycling measures to promote cycling among the employees: Bicycle Training in urban conditions; Bike -Tour in outskirts of Sofia(combined with team-building); Bicycle test Ride Cycle to work game on cycled kilometres Short-term and long-term evaluation surveys will measure the results from the campaigns.
