3 Why THERMAL FLEX - High Performance Silicone Hoses? Silicone rubber hoses perform extremely well under severe temperature and environmental extremes. Thermal Flex standard and custom hoses have a useful life that is far superior to typical organic rubber materials. Another reason to use silicone hose is that it is economical compared to bent metal tubes. Last, certainly not least, the trend towards more stringent emission requirements result in greater heat generation. Silicone is up to the challenge and increasingly the favored choice of design engineers. High Temperature Resistance Thermal Flex silicone hoses consistently outperform organic (black rubber or EPDM) hoses to high temperatures of 350 and 500 F when reinforced with aramid or Nomex fabric. Even under extreme conditions the silicone hose will retain excellent tensile strength, elongation, and tear & abrasion resistance. Low Temperature Flexibility our silicone hose can maintain dynamic flexibility to temperatures as low as -65 F. Compression Set Resistance Thermal Flex silicone hose is superior to other elastomers in resistance to compression set or deformation, particularly at high and low temperatures. This is particularly important when a silicone rubber part is used in a bellows application where the component is placed under pressure or is flexed often where there is movement between components. Chemical Resistance Thermal Flex silicone hose has excellent resistance to many common chemicals, fluids and oils. Examples of some chemicals that silicone rubber is resistant to are; Citric Acid Heavy Water Water Solution Detergent Ethylene Glycol (anti-freeze) Vegetable Oil Potassium Chloride Sodium Hydroxide 3 mole Methanol Natural Gas Cold Oxygen Vegetable Oil Water Zinc Salts Weather & Ozone Resistance Thermal Flex silicone hose substantially resists the deteriorating effects of sunlight, ozone, rain water, and atmospheric gases, that cause weathering. Even in a very dry environment combined with harsh sunlight our silicone hose will perform well. Water Resistance Silicone rubber is noted for its water resistance. It has an extremely low degree of water absorption and its mechanical properties show minimal change, even after long periods of immersion. Odorless & Tasteless Self explanatory, this is due to the fact that it does not contain sulfur or other acid producing chemicals that generate out-gassing. The hose won t stain or corrode other materials and does not support the growth of molds or bacteria as organic materials might. Color Choices Blue, Red, & Black, in a choice of Glossy or Matte Finish. Complex Shapes Incredibly complex shapes can be made; multi-bend geometry, spigots, etc. SAFETY WARNING Failure to consider how temperature and other conditions affect hose performance could result in death personal injury or property damage. As temperature increases or decreases, burst pressure, safe working pressure, coupling retention properties, and other safety characteristic of the hose can significantly decrease. Deterioration due to wear, impulse, and other envirnonmental conditions should also be considered. New Account Form: A new account may be established with Thermal Flex by sending us your Company s Reseller Number & Certificat along with Bank & Trade References. Minimum Order Policy: Thermal Flex is a manufacturer and is not gered towards retail type sales. New accounts are asked for an initial minimum purchase of $1,000 or more, thereafter a minimum order amount of $ per order is required. Lead Times and Shipment: Most orders are received by the customer within 2 to 4 weeks. Orders will normally be shipped via UPS ground with freight prepaid and add. 5 Custom Formed Hose Program There is a great deal involved in manufacturing custom formed hoses. Some hoses we manufacture can take as long as 5 hours to manufacture. There is an investment required to make custom designed hose the set up charge could range from $500 to $2,000. But we do not charge for a quote and it typically takes 3-5 business days to turn the quote around. Your purchase should include the set-up charge once we have it the first article is typically manufactured in 2-4 weeks. An initial order amount of approximately $3,000 and an annual commitment of $15,000 is required. Request for Quote Procedure We would like to request you follow this procedure to insure your parts and/or prototypes are not lost and of course so the we both have a good reference on the exact part or parts we will quote. I'm sure you understand the benefits. Before shipping the samples or prototype(s) please if you could do these things below it will allow us to quote quickly and also return your parts. 1. Ask your Thermal Flex account representative for an RFQ Number 2. Provide an annual forecast for each part 3. Assign a part number to the part or prototype 4. Take a digital photo of the parts or prototypes 5. Send us a drawing if you have one or create one 6. Tape your business card or letter head to the part or prototype 7. Ship To: Thermal Flex 1401 Air Wing Road, San Diego, CA Set-Up Charges (NRSU): Thermal Flex charges a set-up fee for new custom formed parts because of the extra labor required to manufacture these custom parts. Thermal Flex will often produce part drawings and drawing of the mandrels to be purchased to manufacture the hoses on. Other special items often must be purchased such as trim fixtures and cutting boxes. We have our vendors make the mandrel then we verify the mandrel dimensions and then manufacture a first article for your review and approval before we begin production. The mandrels are the property of Thermal Flex however your company owns the production from the tools. In other words, no other company including Thermal Flex is allowed to purchase or sell parts manufactured from these tools except your company. If you do not purchase hoses from the tool within any 12 month period Thermal Flex reserves the right to produce parts from the tool. Lead Times: Typically a 1 st Article Custom Formed Part requires 3-4 weeks to manufacture. Production lead times vary greatly depending on the complexity and of course quantity.
