3 Installation Instructions Pipe Chase Housing Rev. B Pipe Chase Housing Step 1 - Roof Opening The roof opening size will be 2 narrower (width and length) than the ID opening of purchased Pipe Chase Housing curb. This will provide a 1 inch ledge around the inside of the curb to support the insulating and sound attenuating barrier. Step 2 - Setting The Curb Remove the stainless steel screws from the lid and inside the Pipe Chase Housing. Take care to place the screws in a secure place. Set the lid and housing aside for now. Center the curb over the hole and level. Use the appropriate size screw and quantity to attach the curb to the roof decking. Step 3 - Roofing Curb The curb has an insulated base and a built in 3 inch counter flashing to protect the leading edge of the roof. Run the roofing to the top edge of the curb taking care not to cover the screw holes on top. The gasket in the bottom of the Pipe Chase Housing is designed to be wide enough to seal off against the top of the curb and leading edge of the roof at the same time. There is a 3/4 clearance around the curb for roofing. If you exceed this thickness the Pipe Chase Housing will not slide over the top of the curb. Step 4 - Housing Place Pipe Chase Housing back on the curb and attach with stainless steel screws. The Pipe Chase Housing is designed to counter flash the curb with a 3 inch skirt. The housing gasket will seal against the top of the curb and leading edge of the roof. The outside walls of the Pipe Chase Housing have dimples and bumps. The dimples identify the locations to drill holes to install Exit Seals. The bumps identify the boundary of the penetration area. The bumps define the field for penetration and prevent you from drilling too close to the skirt and corners of the housing. Exit Seal are designed to be used with the Pipe Chase Housing to provide the best weather tight seal around the pipes passing through the Pipe Chase Housing wall. The dimples are offset on opposite sides to prevent pipes from colliding inside the housing. This dimple pattern maximizes the number of pipes that can penetrate the Pipe Chase Housing. 4 Installation Instructions: Sigrist EXIT SEAL Sigrist Exit Seal Each Sigrist Exit Seal is designed to work on a range of pipe sizes. There are 10 Sigrist Exit Seal sizes to cover commonly used pipe, line and cable sizes (1/4 through 1 1/2 OD). Each Sigrist Exit Seal range is in 1/8 inch increments. For example, the smallest Sigrist Exit Seal has a range from 1/4 to 3/8. Pipe sizes that fall on or between 1/4 to 3/8 will fit this Sigrist Exit Seal. This is true for all 10 Sigrist Exit Seal sizes offered. Step 1. Locate the Starter Dimple on either side of the Pipe Chase Housing. Note: if you are going to populate a double row of Sigrist Exit Seals, always start the plumbing or line setting on the lower row first) Step 2. Drill or punch a 2.25 diameter hole where desired Step 3. Clear the lose debris/ filings and insulation from the hole area Step 4. Unthread and remove the backing nut from the Sigrist Exit Seal body leaving the backing nut gasket on the body then insert the body into the 2.25 dia hole. Step 5. Thread the backing nut onto the Sigrist Exit Seal body to strong finger tightness. Do not wrench tighten the nut. Step 6. Piping - After the Sigrist Exit Seals are installed in the Pipe Chase Housing you are ready to run the piping. You can run any pipe size between 1/4 inch out side diameter to 1 1/2 (out side diameter). Sigrist Exit Seals are molded from highimpact resin with EPDM rubber gaskets and can be damaged if exposed to high heat from brazing or soldering during the piping process unless precautions are taken to reduce the exposure to open flame and extreme temperatures. Move the Exit Seal down the pipe and wrap with a wet cloth to protect them. WARNING: Sigrist Exit Seals are not designed to be water fittings and should never be used as a fitting in a water system. You can run water lines through an Exit Seal but Exit Seals are not designed to contain pressurized liquids or gasses. Contractors Express, inc. Tel.
