2 Metamag s new MP4-MG transfer Pump has been re-engineered resulting in efficient, reliable and trouble-free pumping over long duty periods and has a 30% increase in total output. The "True" alignment design ensures centering of bearings and screw drive at higher speeds. This True alignment reduces vibration and premature wear of the moving parts. Our design improves operational economy. Metamag s new series of pumps can have a dramatic effect on the total life costs of an installation.

3 MP4-MG Pump True Alignment System The new design pump incorporates grey iron casting assembly. These integral parts are fitted together by CNC machining. All the components are located in a True alignment axis that promotes smoother operation with minimum vibration

5 Design The new generation MP4-MG Pumps feature numerous advanced technical solutions by way of intake locations and sludge control while the pump is in operation. Reliable Reliability is a key factor for a low total operational cost. That is why the new generation MP4-MG Pumps have been designed combining both new and long proven helicoids flight technology, making them the most reliable mg pumps found on the market today.

6 Externally, the difference is noticeable immediately: the smooth new shapes are easier to keep clean and service. But it is internal where the difference really counts. The heart of the new Pumps is still using the patented liquid mg displacement technology. Our unique design of double pitch closed helicoids screw combined with a ventury type outlet has been proven to significantly reduce the risk of clogging; sustaining high pumping efficiency, even under the most severe conditions.

8 Pump Operation and Controls Metamag supplies a fully functional stand alone pump control panel with fully integrated tube heating controls. The MP4-MG Pump is designed with consistency and accuracy in mind, this is why we use 3 separate areas of controls.

9 Pump Operation and Controls Idle Speed Idle speed is usually set at about 20 HZ, at this speed the mg is maintained in the tube about 800 mm from the outlet end. Keeping the tube full ensures the mg will pour into the shot sleeve in less than a second from pour. Another advantage is while the tube stays full there is less chance of burning the mg left in the tube. While in production mode with the idle speed is set the Pump will be running. (see movie preceding this slide)

10 Pump Operation and Controls Pour Speed Pour speed is the speed at which the Pump ramps up to do a pour into the shot sleeve. The available speed measured in HZ is from 24 to 50. The speed can be done in one ramp cycle or can be segmented to suit any filling application. Optimizing of pour speed is also important, as this will control the amount of heat lost from the mg and how long the shot delay will need to be to prevent gases and air entrapment..

11 Pour Time Pour time is the amount of time it takes to do a complete pour including shot delay time if required. Optimizing Pour Time Optimizing pour time is very important, on larger parts it can influence the overall cycle time. The faster the metal transfer occurs the less heat is lost from the pouring metal. In an ideal condition the pour should be fast enough to retain most of the heat and not so fast as to cause turbulence in the shot sleeve, thus adding more time to the shot delay.
