1. Determine suitability of tank and contents * If the tank does not suit the criteria below, do not install the Watchman Anywhere Pro Ensure before you start that the tank is positioned on a level surface Check that the area in which you are installing the unit has a GSM/GPRS Vodafone signal Ensure that fluid in the tank conforms to diesel fuel, kerosene and gas oil A2, C1, C2 and D as defined by BS 2869 Outer Tank (Bund) Inner Tank Tank positioned on a level surface Page 7
2. Determine type of installation TYPE 1 TYPE 2 TYPE LITRES 3000 LITRES Installation criteria: - tank must be in catalogue - position must be available Installation criteria: - tank not in catalogue - tank capacity less than 3000 litres - plastic tank Installation criteria: - tank not in catalogue - tank capacity more than 3000 litres - steel tank - tank with 2" BSP upstand For tanks with a 2" BSP steel tank upstand higher than 30mm choose installation type 3. Installation type3 is recommended for all steel tanks. Page 8
Installation Type 1 Check the level, tank type and dimensions Choose the position from catalogue Fit the base Measure WAP height and ullage Fit the Watchman Anywhere Pro Activate + Test OK Fill in the form Choose position from catalogue Drill a hole in the place that you have selected on the tank's top surface using a 32mm hole-saw If in doubt please consult the tank manufacturer before drilling the tank. Fit the base Insert Watchman Anywhere Pro base ensuring the seal is securely in place Tighten the Watchman Anywhere Pro base onto the tank with 2 stainless steel self-tapping, counter sunk screws supplies. Do not use long screws which may obstruct the beam. Recommended Torque Settings for plastic tanks: 110cNm Page 9
Measure the size of the inner tank, i.e. height, width, length or diameter and write data on the installation form enclosed. Also record the tank make and model on the enclosed installation form. Outer Tank (Bund) Watchman Anywhere Pro Inner Tank WAP Height Measure height from bottom of the tank to the top of Watchman Anywhere Pro base Measure height of fluid in the tank Measure Ullage * Fill in the enclosed installation form Ullage = distance from Watchman Anywhere Pro base to the surface of fluid Page 10
Activate the unit Screw the Watchman Anywhere Pro onto the base. Ensure the unit is vertical on top of the tank and level. Ensure that the unit is screwed correctly into the base and that the threads have not crossed, to give a secure seal. (The following procedure must be carried out prior to leaving the site) a. To put the devise into install mode hold the magnet for two seconds on the red hot spot that marks the reed switch position (See picture 10). The Watchman Anywhere Pro should make a short continuous beep sound to confirm that the reed switch is closed. b. After a 10 second pause there will be a series of short beeps, spaced approximately 1 second apart. This indicates the GSM/GPRS logging in period. Logging in normally takes about 40 seconds, but can be up to 5 minutes in a bad coverage area. After 5 minutes if logging has been unsuccessful the unit goes silent and no beeps will occur. c. Upon Successful Registration to the GSM network the unit will attempt to initiate a GPRS connection to the server. This is indicated by a higher pitched beeping at approximately 1 second apart. This can take up to 5 minutes. d. The successful activation of the unit is indicated by two successive short beeps two seconds apart. e. The Watchman Anywhere Pro will stay active for about 15 minutes, then enter sleep mode. It will then wake up according to the programmed schedule. 41 FAQs Q. I have sent a test message but have not received a response A. Please allow 2-3 minutes. Check you have formatted the message correctly e.g. have you used a "." (dot) Instead of a "," (comma). Check you have sent it to the correct mobile number ( ). Q. I'm receiving a TEST:FAIL with COMS:0 A. Wake unit up again with magnet, wait for another minute then wait for another test. Q. I'm receiving a TEST:FAIL and my Ullage is less than 15cm A. Call Kingspan for further assistance. Q. I have tried to put the unit into Waveguide mode but am receiving TEST:FAIL with WAVE:FW A. Unit has not fully received its updated firmware, wake the unit up again and wait for the unit to "double-beep" before sending a new test message. Q. I am receiving a TEST:FAIL with ULLAGE:MISMATCH A. Your measurement does not match the Unit's measurement, double-check your manual reading. Did you definitely wake the Unit up on the tank? Have you adhered to the WAP Rules (i.e. 15cm clear radius and Unit is level). Q. I am receiving a TEST:FAIL with ULLAGE:ERRATIC A. Should this Unit be a type 3 Install? i.e. is the Unit installed over a window? Is it in a steel tank with bracer bars? Should you have used a Waveguide? Q. Unit is beeping but I cannot get the double-beeps (i.e. cannot contact the server) A. Is there vodafone coverage? If Vodafone coverage is OK - have you a spare Unit that you can try? Page 41
