It s a control approach rather than warning approach. The control approach is done with bike side stand retrieval. While the two-wheelers is concerned accidents occurs due to riding the vehicle in high speed, ignores to use helmets, does not maintains the speed limit and forgets to lift the side stand while riding the vehicles. These are the major source for accidents. Forgetting to lift the side stand causes huge accidents in rural areas partly in urban areas too, because all the other source of accident has preventive measure, but accident due to side stand do not have proper preventive measure. If you see the accident status 36% of the accidents occur due to this problem. So this system is developed to prevent this accidents through use of minimum linkage and it s also cost efficient. This device is more efficient than mechanically operated device. Petrol indicator will indicate the amount of petrol in fuel tank, so through this driver gets the idea and fills the petrol to avoid any problem and stopping of vehicle. Keywords Bike side stand,microcontroller,petrol indiator I. INTRODUCTION 1.1 AUTOMATIC SIDE STAND RETRIEVAL: The aim of the project is to design a bike safety system using microcontroller. It s a safety device, helmet provides safety after accident this system provides safety before accident. It s a control approach rather than warning approach. The project uses different types of electronic and mechanical component to lift the side stand of two wheeler. Microcontroller is being program in such a way that it will lift the side stand after getting proper signals from different contact sensors. Motor shaft is the main component which is going to lift the side when motor starts rotating, when bike is started. Once the side stand gets lifted, the motor will rotate in reverse direction and motor shaft will come to its initial position. When motor shaft is in initial condition and side stand is lifted the motor will stop. So there will be no moving component and reduction in power and driver can enjoy a comfort riding even when the driver forgets to lift the side stand. It is a device going to prevent the accident which occurs due to negligence of driver, not lifting the side stand. 1.2 PETROL INDICATOR: Petrol indicator is a device in the bike safety which indicates the amount of petrol in fuel tank though electromechanical linkage arrangement. The float gauge is used in fuel tank to determine the amount of petrol. When the petrol level goes down the float gauge on it also goes down, due to this movement of DOI : /IJRTER VAJBL 165

2 float the indicator linkage connected to float gauge moves in scale specified to indicate the petrol corresponding to amount of petrol. The benefit of this system is that driver gets to know some idea how much petrol is remaining in fuel tank and when to refill it. A.Hardware Arduino UNO Bi-Directional Servo DC Motor Motor Driver IC LM293D Contact Sensors Battery (6 or 12 volt) IC LM324SN B. Software 1. Arduino II. COMPONENT III. BLOCK DIAGRAM IV. AUTOMATIC SIDE STAND RETRIEVAL: Sprocket side stand retrieve system retrieves the side stand automatically if the rider forgets to lift the side stand while moving the bike. Its works is based on the use of microcontrollers, which is being programmed to control the movements of motors which is the main part to lift the side stand of two wheeler through motor shaft. We have come up with a solution of mechatronics based project. It is programmed in such All Rights Reserved 166

3 way that when the bike is started it lifts the side stand after doing so it comes to its initial position and stops when side stand is in the lifted position. Whenever we will start a bike it will get power from the battery. After turning on if the side stand is in down position it will send the signal that it is not in contact by using contact sensor which is kept at the upper end of stand. As the signal is sent that bike key is on and motor shaft is in contact and side stand is not, the motor will start rotating in forward direction and lifts the side stand and when the side stands gets lifted, it sends a contact signal to microcontroller, then motor starts rotating in reverse direction towards its initial position. When all the signal is in contact the motor will stop and we can ride our bike more safely avoiding the accident due to side stand. CASE 1: Key ON Microcontroller will send the signal to Motor shaft ON motor & motor will lift the side stand Side Stand - OFF through shaft attached to it. CASE 2: Key ON Motor shaft OFF Side Stand - ON Microcontroller will send the signal to motor & motor shaft will come to its initial position. CASE 3: KEY ON Microcontroller will send the Motor shaft ON Gives Signal signal to motor and motor will Side Stand ON stop All Rights Reserved 167

PETROL INDICATOR IC used is LM324SN, The main purpose Of this to compare and give output It has 4 comparators in it at different pins We used this IC in order to indicate petrol by completing the circuit at different levels and at every different specified point the light will be blown. It is cost effective It indicate the petrol in 4 different levels I.e. 25%, 50%, 75% and 100%ut as specified. Circuit All Rights Reserved 168

5 VI. CONCLUSION It will be the major system to control accidents due to side stand problem and protect the careless rider. It s a cost efficient device to protect the driver. Its more important device than helmet as it prevents the accident.it will also indicate the petrol so that driver can get the details of petrol left in fuel tank. REFERENCES All Rights Reserved 169
