With the choice of the very best North American engines Detroit s DD15 or Cummins X15 you get high horsepower, great fuel efficiency and recognised reliability. Delivering up to 600 hp and 2050 lb-ft of torque, all the engines are fully ADR80/03 compliant and all are easily controlled with the combination of Eaton s new UltraShift automated transmission and Freightliner s SmartShift automated shifter. At 1650 inch 2, the massive single radiator is the biggest ever in an Argosy and it forms the heart of a new high-efficiency cooling system. Intense testing has shown it can easily handle the worst Australia can throw at it and still have plenty in reserve for bull bars, insects and heatwaves. This truck is designed to deliver durability. The electrical architecture has been redesigned to minimise the effects of wear and tear on circuitry and help keep you on the road even longer. Exceptionally aerodynamic with a sloping 24 windscreen, the Argosy s high-strength cabins all meet Europe s stringent ECE-R29 standards but are lightweight to allow you to carry more freight. Available in 90, 101 and 110 raised roof, the Argosy s cabins provide drivers with all the comfort and safety they deserve and expect (please note: 8x4 is only available with 90 cab). Aerodynamic side mirrors are electronically adjustable and heated, with spotter mirrors and passenger down-view mirrors. There are clever storage compartments wherever you look, and external locker boxes can be accessed from inside the cabin. Dash components are completely injection moulded, with timber look furnishings and ivory gauges. After a day on the road you can walk into your roomy bedroom and enjoy bunks that are up to a luxurious 51 wide. Privacy curtains keep out the light and sounddeadening material keeps out the noise. 5 WIRED FOR LIFE. We ve redesigned the electrical architecture in the Argosy minimising circuitry wear and tear to keep your truck out of the maintenance yard. Everything has been addressed, from the batteries through to the high speed diagnosis connections. All high current power cables are routed in conduit from start to finish and Freightliner s latest erail technology has allowed us to move cabling away from the crowded engine bay to further protect the wiring looms. A new centralised PowerNet Distribution Box manages all electrical requirements between chassis and cabin for vastly minimising circuitry wear and tear. From the batteries housed in a temperature sealed carrier, through to the Leece Neville brushless 185 amp alternator, to the latest technology headlights, the Freightliner Argosy is wired for life. Maintenance. We hate downtime as much as you do, so we ve designed durability and ease of maintenance into every aspect of the Argosy. The giant grille tilts up to 120 so drivers can easily access daily check points. The cab itself tilts through 75 thanks to an effortless electrical over hydraulic tilt function. Configured as a fully loaded B-double or road train, the Argosy has cruised through dynamic testing in temperatures averaging 46, repeatedly driving up 7% gradients nearly 30 kilometers long. It has been subjected to endurance tests of more than 2.5 million kilometres of on-road testing and passed aggressive cab shaker tests at Freightliner s research and development facilities. Full scale wind tunnel tests have also made the Argosy very slippery. The 24 windscreen deflects air upward and through the Argosy s open visor, minimising turbulence and cutting running costs.
