2 DEPARTMENT OF AUTOMOBILE ENGINEERING One of the world s most popular and challenging student engineering are organized by the Society of automotive engineers SAE, the premier society dedicated to automotive engineering. Students must start from ground up in a year long process that culminates in the series of formula SAE competitions held every year.conceive design fabricate Complete Racing is a collegiate club under the students of VNR. It is devoted to thrill of racing and motorsports. The Racing runs the college chapter of SAE India (Society of Automotive Engineers) at VNR. Students with a flair for automobile design from undergraduate courses join this club. This club has been participating for the Baja SAE, SUPRA events conducted by SAE India and FSAE events conducted by SAE International. SAE International, initially established as the Society of Automotive Engineers, is a U.S.-based, globally active professional association and standards developing organization for engineering professionals in various industries. Principal emphasis is placed on transport industries such as automotive, aerospace, and commercial vehicles. It was founded in 1905 with Andrew L. Riker as President, Henry Ford and John Wilkinson as Vice Presidents, Edward Birdsall as Secretary-treasurer. SAEINDIA is an affiliate society of SAE International, registered as Indian nonprofit engineering and scientific society dedicated to the advancement of mobility community in India. As an individual member driven society of mobility practitioners, SAEINDIA comprises members who are individuals from the mobility community, which includes engineers, executives from industry, government officials, academics and students. SAEINDIA was formed in India in with Dr. Pawan Goenka, appointed as advisor for India. Baja SAE is an intercollegiate design competition run by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE).The goal in Baja SAE racing is to design, build and race off-road vehicles that can withstand the harshest elements of rough terrain. The vehicles used in Baja SAE racing are often similar in appearance to dune buggies. SUPRA (Super Racing) is a National Level Engineering Student Competition where Teams from Various Engineering Colleges Participate. In this competition Students Design and Fabricate a Formula Style Vehicle.

3 VNRVJIET SOCIETY OF AUTOMOTIVE ENGINEERS Beginning as an experiment in the year 2012, SAE chapter of VNR is defining new histories for itself as it continues to win accolades in national and international level competitions. It aims at encouraging the student member to apply their technical knowledge acquired through their regular course work. Embracing aspiring minds of multi-disciplinary backgrounds who strive to go beyond the limits to achieve success. With a thorough background of manufacturing engineering along with metallurgy and materials engineering the SAE club consists of undergraduate students from second, third & final year with a purpose to provide its member opportunities to gain broader insight into the engineering profession. 5 FORMULA SOCIETY OF AUTOMOTIVE ENGINEERS The Concept behind formula SAE is that a fictional manufacturing company has contracted a design team to develop a small formula style race car. Each student team designs, build and test a prototype based on a series of rules whose purpose clever problem solving. Formula SAE Promotes careers and excellence in engineering. Formula SAE takes Student out of the classroom and allows them to apply text-book theories to real work experience. FSAE encompasses all aspects of a business including research, design, testing, manufacturing, developing, marketing and fund raising. The prototype race car is judged in a number of event. Formula car team in JSAE competition, Japan 2012 SAE BAJA The Baja SAE Competition takes places every year in January at the NATRAX text facility in Pithampur, Indore (Madhya Pradesh). The Goal in BAJA SAE Racing is to design, build and race off road vehicles that can withstand the harshest elements of rough terrain. The vehicles used in BAJA are often similar in appearance to Dune Buggies. Before 2007, that event was called MINI BAJA, BAJA SAE is an intercollegiate design competition run by SAE. The cars all have engine of same specification. The objective of the competition is to provide engineering students with a challenging project that involves design, engineering, manufacturing and marketing n all-terrain vehicle

6 Team participated in SAE BAJA, SUPRA SAEINDIA is the largest affiliate of SAE international with throughout the country has been in the forefront in bringing several event modeled on international competitions which has grown enormously over the years. at BIC, Greater Noida. SUPRA is the national level engineering student competition where teams from various engineering colleges participate. In this student design and fabricate a formula style vehicle. The student not only design the vehicle but also built them as per the given set of rules (Rule Book) and design standard of SAE international. Making the student to learn and realize their talent through an experience, through this we try to extract future entrepreneur, technocrats, innovators and leaders, thus serving the prime objective of bringing out real talent to serve the Indian automotive industry for the years to come, in the continuation with the vision automotive mission plan, a dream to make India an international automotive hub. In this Edition 126 teams of various engineering colleges from all over the country are participating, which consists of more than 3000 participants. In this event specification of the vehicle frame and engine are restricted to 610cc engine so, that knowledge, creativity imagination of students are fully challenged. The cars are built with a team effort over a period of one year and compete with other teams on the race track. The end result is great hands on experience for young engineer encouraging team to work with specific and end objective. During the main event the team go through several levels of testing. i.e. Technical inspection( vehicle scrutiny, tilt

7 test, noise test & break test) static events (cost presentation, marketing presentation, design presentation) Dynamic events (Acceleration test, skid pad test, autocross test) and endurance test.
