Less chance of having stranded generator capacity You are not dependent a single generator. If one generator fails, you still have all the others to power your load. Creating an N+1 or N+2 configuration is very straight forward in paralleling designs. A large generator bus will act more like a utility. 23 Conclusion Big generators give you more kw per sq. ft. of floor space and more kw per gallon of fuel. A paralleling system that utilizes large generators will have a lower probability of auxiliary system failures. There are multiple ways to achieve concurrent maintainability and fault tolerance in a paralleling system. Data designers should include larger generators and paralleling architectures when analyzing the best fit for their clients.
