1 WE CARRY THE FUTURE SM m.hmm21.com 877-7HYUNDAI August 30, 2012 To: HMM Valued Customers Re: Change in Dynamics in the US trades As an update to the Hyundai Merchant Marine Program, effective October 1, 2012, HMM will no longer supply chassis for the Port/Hub Locations that correspond to Norfolk/Hampton Roads, Va. This move will complete the implementation process for Hyundai s chassis paradigm. As of October 1, 2012, Hyundai will include the port/hub locations that correspond to Norfolk/Hampton Roads VA. Where you arrange for over the road trucking (merchant haulage) for dry cargo: Your trucker can use his own chassis or rent one from the chassis providers referred to below (Appendix A). HMM s requirements are that the chassis meet the Federal Highway Act (FWHA) standards and the road ability requirements at the respective marine terminal or rail facility. All related chassis costs are the responsibility of the trucker and/or yourself. (Please note that any container detention will still apply and be collected by HMM if container free time is exceeded.) 2. Where Hyundai arranges for over the road trucking (carrier haulage) for dry cargo: The trucker will obtain a chassis from a designated provider. The trucker will be invoiced for the chassis rental by the designated provide. To be reimbursed, the trucker should submit a copy of the chassis invoice with rental cost to HMM whereby HMM will reimburse the costs to the trucker. The trucker will directly handle invoice payments with the designated chassis provider. If the customer causes the trucker to exceed his freetime, HMM will assess the customer for detention which will cover both the chassis and the container. These charges are stipulated in HMM s tariff or in the customer s service contract. 3. In the case of refrigerated cargo: a. Carrier haulage-hmm will continue to supply the genset and, if required, a genset chassis. 1 of 5 P a g e

2 b. Merchant haulage- HMM will continue to supply the genset; however, if required, a genset chassis will be the responsibility and expense of the trucker/shipper. 4. Any special handling involving a chassis supplied by a trucker, including flip charges, will be the sole financial responsibility of the trucker. Please contact your sales representative or HMM customer service department if further information is required. HMM Customer Service is available at (800) HYUNDAI.
