2 1. General Descripions Tyrisors are more and more used where increased resisive and inducive loads have o be conrolled. By means of he modular and compac consrucion as well as he conrol by a coninuous acion conrol signal, hese Power Thyrisors are becoming a perfec acuaor for indusrial power conrol. The power uni of he Thyrisor is made of wo ani parallel conneced Thyrisors, he insulaed hea sink and he conrol elecronics. Explanaion of ypes: TS2 1ph TS2 SP 1ph Regulaor wih phase angle conrol for single phase sysems Regulaor wih oscillaion package single phase sysems (Osciallaion package) Curren limiing (opion): Wih phase angle conrol he load curren can be adjused in he range of 5 100% by means of a poeniomeer. The effecive value of he load curren is limied. Power Supply: Differen mains volages are adjused o maximum of power wihou causing any on load volage problems Consrucion: The power hyrisors correspond o he VDE 0558 Par 1 and VDE 0160 Table 4. I consiss of 3 basic componens: a) Power Uni including hea sink and hyrisor wiring b) Conrol uni wih sarer and conrol elecronics (diagnosic display, conrol oupus ec.) c) Funcion Module deermines he analogue conrol 2

3 2. Se up of Power Thyrisor TS2 (SP) 1ph A sufficien cooling (e.g. forced air cooling) is of paramoun imporance. Temperaure is no allowed o exceed 50 C. The device has o be mouned on a verical area, so ha a sufficien air circulaion is guaraneed. Moreover, he Thyrisor has o insalled in dry rooms. Furher on sie condiions: Proecion agains dus and humidiy Proecion agains aggressive amosphere Free of vibraions In order o advoid any inferences of he cooling, no furher componens should be insalled around he Thyrisor wihin a disance from 50 o 100mm. Wiring: Power supply (L1, N(L2) mus be produced via a fail save circui breaker wih he common backups. The wiring for he power supply and he conrol uni mus be done in separae channels or proecion ube. During he elecrical insallaion procedure, he general VDE regulaions (VDE 0100, VDE 0113, VDE 160) mus be observed, accordingly mm mm 3

4 3. Insallaion Firs of all, all elecrical connecions should be se up, according o he aached circui diagrams: L1, N(L2), T1, T2. According o he VDE regulaions, he Thyrisors mus be conneced o he supply ne in ha way, ha hey can be separaed from he ne by means of corresponding clearing insrumens (e.g. main swich, conacor, proecive power swich). Cabling: The ne and consumer lead wires as well as he conrol circui mus be lead in separae cables. In order o avoid any inerferences, i is advisable o wire he elecronic signal lines separaed from he load leads and/or he conacor conrol circui and o wis he coming and going wires of he signal line. Proecion: The ne proecion depends on he recommended respecively he used conducor cross secion and mus be made according o DIN Par 430/VDE 0100 Par 430/6.81. 6 5. Technical feaures of conrol and monioring board The conrol board of he power hyrisor includes several conrol and proecion funcions. This board is supplied via he clamps L1 and N in he sandard ype, so o produce an inernal DC volage of 15 Vol DC. On he conrol board (Euroforma) he changeable funcion board is posiioned (100x 75mm), which deermines he conrol or regulaing behaviour of he device. Funcions of LED's on he conrol board: LED 1 (red) "Thermal emperaure of hea sink respec. of power hyrisor" Reason: Overload, oo high curren, oo much swiching frequency. The swich off reshold amouns o approx. 80 C. LED 2 (red) "Phase acciden" Reason: Several or one phase has no connecion o he main supply L1, N(L2). (Verficaion if all phases are fed!) LED 3 (red) "Thermal emperaure of PTC inpu" Reason: PTC has riggered or open bridge LED 4 (green) "Ancillary volage fed" (device in sand by) Upon acivaion (e.g. making of conacs 1 2) all red LEDs mus fade if no of he menioned of he above menioned failures exiss.
