7 Platform & Aircraft Performance - focuses on improving performance, control, operational availability and safety to the crew; reduces vulnerability and maintenance burden to the Soldier. Sensors & Situational Awareness - focuses on improving situational awareness and ability to positively detect, identify, locate, target, and engage enemy combatants at extended ranges in hostile environments while also providing higher fidelity hazard to flight info supporting operations in austere flight environments. Capability Focus Areas Avionics & Aircrew Awareness - focuses on providing critical mission capabilities by incorporating communication, navigation and software capabilities, enables safety and regulatory compliance, information assurance, networking, and increased situation awareness. Weapons focuses on providing operational adaptability, creating tactical flexibility and reducing logistical burden by using an open architecture to expand the force continuum, with lethal new capabilities.
