21 Passive PFC choke series One of the most important environmental conditions for the smooth operation of electrical equipment is a reliable quality of supply networks. Disturbances and infl uences caused by power-ups, switching power supplies, frequency controllers, etc., endanger equipment and systems in their operational safety. A signifi cant area of the disturbances and infl uences on the mains voltage set phase effects; they do arise when resources are operated with a nonlinear current - voltage characteristic or with non-stationary operating behavior of a power grid. This problem of network perturbations gains through the increased use of power electronics with increased emission increasingly important. In view of the increasing network pollution and the necessary reduction to comply with the power network stability, the requirements are to be adapted to device manufacturers to comply with the electromagnetic compatibility. With the harmonization of EU Directive 004/08/EC towards the new version 04/30/EG new guidelines have been applied for the marketing of new devices in Europe. In order to meet these future requirements on the grid-connected emissions, HAHN provides you already an extended mains choke series, which allows you within very short time to optimize the EMC-features of your device, compliant to the new standard location. With a power range up to 0 A as well as a wide range of inductance values, this series covers completely the range of common household appliances using their typical plug connected load. Through compliance with the standards in relation to the relevant standards EN for chokes, EN 604, as well as the compliance with the glow wire tests of all materials used in accordance with EN and the use of insulation to the insulation class B and F UL 446, the integration of these components is quick and easy. 32 Active PFC-choke series The high demand of passive PFC choke series and the demands of our customers for greater achievements enables HAHN to present now the active PFC-choke series. The active PFC-choke series takes place in the circuit topologies DCM (Discontinuous conduction mode) and CCM (Continuous conduction mode) application and meets the requirements of the major manufacturers of power regulators. It will be implemented in the pot core design PQ, which acquires highest effi ciency in its small dimensions. The new choke series includes an inductance ranging from 50µH to 000µH, divided into appropriate intermediate steps. This current value of.5 A to 6.5 A can be achieved with a frequency response of 500 khz. The Active PFC-choke series is characterized by very high impulse withstand voltage due to the use of high-quality enameled copper wire. The withstand voltage value between auxiliary and power winding of the choke series is kv,.5 kv from the two windings to the core. Furthermore HAHN sets on UL listed materials, corresponding to the insulation class F (55 C). In addition, these materials are compliant to the HAHN insulation system HAHN 55- (E37745).
