1 Safety Committee Update & Awards Presentation February 21, 2018 Co-Chairs: Dana Svendsen, Sherman & Howard Tom Woerdeman, Transit Mix Concrete Committee Objectives Provide a forum for members to discuss safety and regulatory issues Maintain strong working relationship with regulatory agencies (OSHA, MSHA, DOT) Promote training through the Mine Safety Institute s Learning Management System and DVDs Increase statewide committee participation Explore avenues for increased mixer driver safety Recognize safe operating practices through awards program and increase number of award nominations 1

5 Awards Program The updated CRMCA/CSSGA Awards Program was launched in 2015 Rodman C. Stewart Memorial Leadership Award presented at Annual Conference Addition of the Safety Innovation Award Added Mixer Driver of the Year Award in 2016 Team Safety Awards moved to an annual basis 2017 Safety Award Winners 2017 Annual Team Safety Awards Awards are based on number of reportable incidents (MSHA/OSHA) and broken into following classes: Silver Safety Operators: 1-4 Consecutive Years with No Lost Time or Restricted Duty Incidents Gold Safety Operators: 5-9 Consecutive Years with No Lost Time or Restricted Duty Incidents Platinum Safety Operators: 10+ Consecutive Years with No Lost Time or Restricted Duty Incidents 5
