3 MRV REGULATION IMPLEMENTATION OF REGULATION (EU) 2015/757: Monitoring, Reporting and Verification of CO2 emissions in EU waters - From 2018 on - All vessels with 5000 GT and above - Approaching and leaving EU ports - Voyage based report with the following information: (a) port of departure and port of arrival including the date and hour of departure and arrival (b) amount and emission factor for each type of fuel consumed in total (c) CO 2 emitted (d) distance travelled (e) time spent at sea (f) cargo carried (g) transport work
4 MRV REGULATION IMPLEMENTATION OF REGULATION (EU) 2015/757: Monitoring, Reporting and Verification of CO2 emissions in EU waters - Report on annual basis with the following information: (a) amount and emission factor for each type of fuel consumed in total (b) total aggregated CO 2 emitted within the scope of this Regulation (c) aggregated CO 2 emissions from all voyages between ports under a Member State's jurisdiction (d) aggregated CO 2 emissions from all voyages which departed from ports under a Member State's jurisdiction (e) aggregated CO 2 emissions from all voyages to ports under a Member State's jurisdiction (f) CO 2 emissions which occurred within ports under a Member State's jurisdiction at berth (g) total distance travelled (h) total time spent at sea (i) total transport work (j) average energy efficiency
5 MRV REGULATION IMPLEMENTATION OF REGULATION (EU) 2015/757 1) Ship owning company (SOC) drafts a emission monitoring plan (MP) per ship 2) SOC selects a verifier and submit the MP to the verifier 3) The verifier assesses the MP 4) SOC monitors the CO2 emissions over one calendar year 5) SOC produces the emission report (ER) 6) SOC send ER to the verifier 7) Verifier verifies ER acc. to the MP and drafts a verification report (VR) 8) If the submitted ER is o.k. the verifier submits a document of compliance (DoC) to the commission 9) SOC submits the verified ER to the commission. (until April 30th of the following year) 10) Commission publishes the results on June 30 th of the following year

All these duties above can be delegated to an external company by introducing for instance the performance management system V-Per of SkySails. We are used to collect all the needed information from the ship and the operations, condense them to dedicated reports and take care of the administrative MRV processes until successful submission to the commission

11 The smart future of ship operation is not just fulfilling the administrative requirements. We should take those requirements as a motive to think about the effectiveness of our processes and as a chance to improve the economics of shipping. The information have to be collected anyway and why not doing this in a way which safes work on board and onshore, making the processes more effective at you and your customers. Why not providing all parties involved with the same reliable information from one reliable source? Why not providing your customers a better service than your competition? Why not increasing profit by creating synergies?

15 Fuel Consumption Rate [t/d] KEYS TO SMART SHIP OPERATION Examples of operational measures on board: TWO STEPS TO OPTIMUM TRIM 1. Trim Tables Measured fuel consumption rates are evaluated for different draft and trim situations. Data filters and normalization produce high data validity. The results are shown in an easy to read trim table. Trim pre-settings can be done at port 35 filtered data 30 valid data Speed Through Water [kn] 2. Dynamic Trim Optimization Real time fuel consumption data shows the effects of trim changes immediately. Empirical trim optimization on board enables the master to find the optimal trim at any time.
