1 Technical Service BULLETIN Introduction August 2, 2007 Title: Models: 07 Tundra The center bearing adjustment method provided in the Repair Manual for the rear driveshaft (propeller shaft) installation process has been revised. Please use the revised method described in this TSB. DL DRIVELINE & DIFFERENTIAL Failure to properly adjust the center support bearing could cause damage to the center support bearing and customer complaints of abnormal noise and vibration under heavy acceleration with a load on the vehicle. Applicable Vehicles 2007 model year Tundra vehicles equipped with 2 piece driveshafts (propeller shafts) including Regular Cab with Long Bed,, and CrewMax Cab models. 2 2WD Models 1. Install the propeller with center bearing shaft assembly (for 3 joint type). A. Remove the SST from For A750E: the transmission. SST P/N (A750E) SST P/N (or equivalent) (AB60E) SST For AB60E: SST B. Insert the sleeve yoke into the transmission. C. w/o Bearing Washer: Temporarily install the center support bearing to the crossmember with the 2 mounting bolts. w/ Bearing Washer: Temporarily install the center support bearing to the crossmember with the 2 bearing washers and 2 mounting bolts. 3 2WD Models D. Align the matchmarks on the propeller shaft flange and differential flange. E. Connect the propeller shaft to the differential side, and install the 4 bolts and 4 nuts. Torque: 70 N m (714 kgf cm, 52 ft lbf) Matchmarks 2. Adjust the No. 1 center support bearing assembly (for 3 joint type). A. Adjust dimension A between the front surface of the center bearing housing and the back surface of the intermediate shaft as shown in the illustration. Refer to the following Center Bearing Adjustment Criteria table. Front Side Dimension A will vary based on lift type used (2 post or 4 post lift). A HINT: Measure dimension A at 3 places and make adjustments so that the measured dimensions are equal. Page 3 of 9

(0.63 in.) 4 Post Lift (Bound) 2 Post Lift (Full Rebound) When measuring dimension A using a 4 post lift, unload the bed and any heavy options/accessories from the vehicle because these will affect the vehicle height and create propeller shaft angle/dimension A change. 5 2WD Models B. Check that the center line of the bracket is at right angles to the shaft axial direction. C. Tighten the 2 mounting bolts. 90 Bracket Center Line Torque: 40 N m (410 kgf cm, 30 ft lbf) Shaft Axial Direction 3. Inspect for oil leaks. 1. Install the propeller with center bearing shaft assembly (for 3 joint type). HINT: When replacing the spider bearing, make sure that the grease fitting assembly hole is facing in the direction shown in the illustration. 6 A. w/o Bearing Washer: Temporarily install the center support bearing with the 2 mounting bolts. w/ Bearing Washer: Temporarily install the center support bearing with the 2 bearing washers and 2 mounting bolts. B. Transfer Side: Align the matchmarks on the flange yoke and transfer flange. For Transfer Side: C. Install the propeller shaft to the transfer side with the 4 nuts. Torque: 70 N m (714 kgf cm, 52 ft lbf) Matchmarks D. Differential Side: Align the matchmarks on the flange yoke and differential flange. For Differential Side: E. Install the propeller shaft to the differential side with the 4 bolts and 4 nuts. Torque: 70 N m (714 kgf cm, 52 ft lbf) Matchmarks Page 6 of 9

7 2. Adjust the No. 1 center support bearing assembly (for 3 joint type). A. Adjust dimension A between the front surface of the center bearing housing and the back surface of the intermediate shaft as shown in the illustration. Torque: 30 N m (306 kgf cm, 22 ft lbf) 4. Install the propeller shaft heat insulator bracket sub assembly with the 2 bolts. Torque: 15 N m (153 kgf cm, 11 ft lbf) 5. Inspect for oil leaks. Page 9 of 9
