2 SAFETY RULES To avoid personal or enviromental damages and to guarantee a proper operation of the equipment, the staff in charge of the installation, set up and maintenance of the equipment must follow the instructions of this manual, specially those recommendations and warnings explicitly detailed. In addition, specific instructions for the chemical products to be dosed should be followed.

4 .- GENERAL DESCRIPTION FERTIC FP 0 are hydraulic Injection Pumps that dose proportionally a liquid (FP 0) or two (FP 0x) depending on the main-line flow. They are designed to have a nominal flow of m/3 to 0m/3 per hour and a maximum pressure of 0 bar. A minimum pressure loss is achieved due to ITC's exclusive FERTIC FP 0 operating mechanism. Injection flow is regulable from 0% to.4% (FP 0) and from 0% to % (FP 0x) of the main-line flow with the option of regulating injection when pump is on or off. They are manufactured in materials whose properties are resistant to agrochemical products, including acids. Designed for Fertigation and processes whereby a proportional injection is required from a fluid network e.g. Food, Textile, Chemical, WaterTtreatment Industries etc. Separate injection chamber. The task of the injection chamber is to isolate the liquid for injection from the driving liquid of the pump. This takes place by means of an inner piping through which the sucked up liquid is conveyed to the pump exit. The advantage of this chamber is that the inner elements of the pump are not damaged by the sucked up liquid, and this eliminates the possibility that they may be damaged by a chemical action..- CARRIAGE AND MAINTENANCE The original packing is prepared so that carriage and storing of the product do not cause any damage to the product, as long as this is done far from heat sources and in dry, ventilated spaces. 5 3.- INSTALLATION Set the pump upright with the help of the (optional) support, or of any other support which may keep the pump in a fixed and stable position. Foresee the necessary room to allow to carry out the basic maintenance comfortably, and to help in the setting up and in the disassembling of the equipment (0.5 m above the pump). 6 SUPPORT Install the pump using the supplied support: Fix the support to a wall. FP0 FP0x Hold the pump in the support, collate bolts and tighten FP 0 FP 0x FITTING CONNECTING-INFLOW/OUTFLOW Introduce female fitting and conical sleeve to / piping. FP 0 FP 0x The output nipple of the pump is blocked with a pin put inside the pump, which stops from tightening or loosening it. 6

7 CHECK VALVE Safety valve. MAIN LINE FILTER It is essential to fit a 0-mesh filter in the main-line pipe in order to filter the fluid that goes to the Injection Pump. BY-PASS VALVE The by-pass installation is not essential although recommended. The function of the by-pass valve is as follows: It allows the pump to be taken-off without interferring in the installation operation. It allows regulation of the flow that passes through Injection Pump in case of a flow higher than the nominal one. (Max pump flow) ON/OFF VALVE Valve to start/stop Injection Pump. To automate the on/off operation of the pump substitute this valve for a solenoid valve.. INJECTION FILTER It is essential to fit in the suction line the 00-mesh filter supplied with the pump. FERTIC FP 0 AND FP0x HAVE AN ANTI-SYPHON VALVE INCORPORATED to present a depressure inside the pump. This could affect its proper functioning. 7

8 3.- OPERATION FERTIC FP 0 and FERTIC FP0x are volumetric hydraulic Injection Pumps for the proportional injection of one liquid (FP 0) or two liquids (FP 0x) depending on the fluid network flow that is used for the injector to take up energy and making the hydraulic motor work. The hydraulic motor is comprised of a piston in oscillating motion that on each stroke empties approximately litres of fluid and draws down the injection piston to a maximum injection of,4% for FP 0 and % for FP 0x. Counting the number of strokes per minute ( stroke = clicks) the flow capacity passing through the pump and the maximum injection flow can be calculated. 9 5.- START UP Do not open the pump while operating Do not exceed the maximum rated pressure The main-line fluid must circulate in the indicated direction, never the opposite way. STAND: Check that the pump is properly installed in its stand. CHECKING THE HYDRAULIC CIRCUIT: Check that all valves are opened and that escapes from priming valves derive the liquid to a proper receptacle. CHECKING OF PUMP: Check visually/auditorilly the proper working of the pump. BY-PASS INSTALLATION Before putting the pump in operation make sure that inflow/outflow valves are closed. Open the by-pass valves (see installation) and let the main-line fluid pass through. Open the inflow valve of the Injection Pump. Open the outflow valve of the Injection Pump. Slowly close the by-pass valve. The pump will start working. When the flow of the main pipe is higher than the pump nominal one, the bypass valve must be adjusted so that the flow that goes through the pump is lower (or the same) than the pump nominal flow. INSTALLATION WITHOUT BY-PASS: With the inflow valve open, slowly open the outflow valve of the Injection Pump. If the flow that passes through the Injection Pump is higher than the nominal one, the pump could stop working. 9

10 MANUAL STOP MECHANISM AND RESTART The pump has a stop mechanism that allows the main-line fluid to circulate through the Injection Pump without starting the hydraulic motor, with an insignificant pressure loss (see graph), but no fluid injection. Stop: Turn back Stop-Button a ¼ of a revolution to free it and gently pull-up STOP BUTTON STOP FP 0 FP 0 Operation: Push down Stop-Button until the pin finds position in the Stop-Button seating. Turn back Stop-Button a ¼ of a revolution to fit.. START STOP CYLINDER STOP TROUGH VALVES BY-PASS INSTALLATION: Open completely the by-pass valve regulation and close the outlet valve of the dosing pump. INSTALLATION WITHOUT BY-PASS: Slowly close the outlet dosing pump valve. 0

11 INJECTION REGULATION FERTIC FP 0 allows a maximum injection of.4% of the flow that passes through the pump. FERTIC FP 0X allows a maximum injection of % of the flow that passes trought the pump. The Injection Pump regulation is carried out by turning the regulator either clockwise or anti-clockwise, increasing or decreasing respectively the injection flow according to the flow scale. FP 0 FP 0x % 0,9 0,8 0,7 0,6 % 0,5 0,4 REGULATOR REGULATOR 6.- MAINTENANCE Before any maintenance operation we will check: That the pump is stopped and disconnected from the electric supply. There is no pressure neither inside the head nor in the impulsion pipe. It is advisable to empty the head before opening it. The staff in charge of the maintenance will use the adequate protection means in order to manipulate the dosed liquid. FERTIC FP 0 is designed to operate with liquid products previously filtered and with a viscosity similar to that of water. Consult ITC for special cases. Consult materials in Technical Specifications for corrosive liquids. Check periodically the conditions of those filters that protect the Injection Pump from liquid impurities. Inject water periodically to clean the inside of the injector and always when changing-over to a new product. Wearing of seals will depend on the work done by the pump, the amount of particles in suspension in fluid and the product to be injected.
