3 FILE: F SECTION: SHOP 1 1~ MANUAL Galion graders with power circle reverse are equipped with a cricle reverse gear case and nine piston hydraulic motor. For service procedures on the nine piston hy draulic motor, refer to the hydraulic section. Disassembly The hydraulic motor is flange mounted to the circle reverse case. Remove the six socket head capscrews (1) and separate motor from circle reverse case (2). 1 2 The circle reverse worm is coupled to the hydraulic motor shaft (1) by a keyed type sleeve coupling (2). 1.

FILE: L SECTION: 1 SHOP MANUAL 7 3 Remove capscrews and cap (1). Carefully preserve shims (2) as these are to be used during assembly to preload taper bearings under cap.

Taper bearing cup (2) can now be removed if necessary. C 5 Remove cotter pin and nut (1) from circle reverse shaft assembly (2). 2.

Bearings (2) may be serviced at this time if necessary. Remove worm gear cap screws and cap (1). 8 Remove shims (2) with care and tie to cap with string. Do nothing to change thickness this time. of shims at 3.

Install new oil seal (2). 13 Install bearing cup (1) if previously removed or if replacement is necessary in motor flange end of case. 14 Install worm gear (1) with both taper bearings (2) installed and bearing cup (3) in circle gear case. 5.

FILE: F SECTION: 1 SHOP MANUAL 15 Install end cap (1) first without shims (2) and take up on capscrews until bearings bind slightly on rotation of worm shaft. Measure this gap between cap and case.

CAUTION: Be positive that all bearing cups and bearings are in their true position before completing this adjustment. Add.002 to.004 to this measurement and install shims (2) in like amount under cap (1) and tighten capscrews securely. Press bearings (2) in place on circle gear (1) and install in case. 16 ( 17 Check keyway (1) in shaft assembly and key (2) for serviceability. I Check the fit of one to the other to insure ease of installation. Do not install key at this time. ~i7 6.

9 FILE: F SECTION: SHOP MANUAL 1 18 Install shaft assembly (1) in gear case through oil seal and circle gear and block in place securely. Align keyways, insert key, install nut, and torque to 250 ft. lbs,, minimum. Replace cotter pin Install cover. gasket (4) on cover and replace Position filler and breather holes away from worm gear as shown. (3) 7.

Measure cap-case gap and select shim package (2) to give zero endplay with no appreciable drag of bearings on rotation. 22 Install woodruff key in worm shaft. Tap coupling (2) in place. Install gasket (3) on motor and mount on gear case with drain hole in position corresponding to grader s piping. Tighten socket head capscrews securely. 23 Complete unit ready for installation. Fill to level plug on side of case with recommended lubricant as indicated on unit s lubrication chart /
