GET INFORMATI FOR SYMTOM DIAGNOSIS AND REAIR WORKFLOW Get the detailed information from the customer about the symptom (the condition and the environment when the incident/malfunction occurred). >> GO TO 2 2. CHECK DTC 1. Check DTC. 2. erform the following procedure if DTC is displayed. - Record DTC and freeze frame data (rint them out with CSULT-III.) - Erase DTC. - Study the relationship between the cause detected by DTC and the symptom described by the customer. 3. Check related service bulletins for information. Is any symptom described and any DTC detected? Symptom is described, DTC is displayed>>go TO 3 Symptom is described, DTC is not displayed>>go TO 4 Symptom is not described, DTC is displayed>>go TO 5 3. CFIRM THE SYMTOM Confirm the symptom described by the customer. Connect CSULT-III to the vehicle in DATA MITOR mode and check real time diagnosis results. Verify relation between the symptom and the condition when the symptom is detected. >> GO TO 5 4. CFIRM THE SYMTOM Confirm the symptom described by the customer. Connect CSULT-III to the vehicle in DATA MITOR mode and check real time diagnosis results. Verify relation between the symptom and the condition when the symptom is detected. >> GO TO 6 5. ERFORM DTC CFIRMATI ROCEDURE erform DTC Confirmation rocedure for the displayed DTC, and then check that DTC is detected again. At this time, always connect CSULT-III to the vehicle, and check diagnostic results in real time. If two or more DTCs are detected, refer to BCS-79, "DTC Inspection riority Chart" and determine trouble diagnosis order. NOTE: Freeze frame data is useful if the DTC is not detected. erform Component Function Check if DTC Confirmation rocedure is not included in Service Manual. This simplified check procedure is an effective alternative though DTC cannot be detected during this check. If the result of Component Function Check is NG, it is the same as the detection of DTC by DTC Confirmation rocedure. Is DTC detected? YES >> GO TO 8 NO >> Refer to GI-39, "Intermittent Incident". 6. ERFORM BASIC INSECTI erform WW-3, "Work Flow". Inspection End>>GO TO 7 7. DETECT MALFUNCTIING SYSTEM BY SYMTOM TABLE Detect malfunctioning system according to WW-86, "Diagnosis rocedure" based on the confirmed symptom in step 4, and determine the trouble diagnosis order based on possible causes and symptom. >> GO TO 8 WW-4

5 DIAGNOSIS AND REAIR WORKFLOW < BASIC INSECTI > 8. DETECT MALFUNCTIING ART BY DIAGNOSTIC ROCEDURE Inspect according to Diagnostic rocedure of the system. NOTE: The Diagnostic rocedure described is based on open circuit inspection. A short circuit inspection is also required for the circuit check in the Diagnostic rocedure. Is malfunctioning part detected? YES >> GO TO 9 NO >> Check voltage of related BCM terminals using CSULT-III. 9. REAIR OR RELACE THE MALFUNCTIING ART 1. Repair or replace the malfunctioning part. 2. Reconnect parts or connectors disconnected during Diagnostic rocedure again after repair and replacement. 3. Check DTC. If DTC is displayed, erase it. >> GO TO FINAL CHECK When DTC was detected in step 2, perform DTC Confirmation rocedure or Component Function Check again, and then check that the malfunction has been repaired securely. When symptom was described from the customer, refer to confirmed symptom in step 3 or 4, and check that the symptom is not detected. Does the symptom reappear? Control by BCM Combination switch reading function Front wiper control function Control by IDM E/R Front wiper control function Relay control function FRT WIER BASIC OERATI BCM detects the combination switch condition by the combination switch reading function. BCM transmits the front wiper request signal to IDM E/R with CAN communication depending on each operating condition of the front wiper. IDM E/R turns / the integrated front wiper relay and the front wiper high relay according to the front wiper request signal. IDM E/R provides the power supply to operate the front wiper HI/LO operation. FRT WIER LO OERATI BCM transmits the front wiper request signal (LO) to IDM E/R with CAN communication according to the front wiper LO operating condition. Front wiper LO operating condition - Ignition switch - Front wiper switch LO or front wiper switch MIST (while pressing) IDM E/R turns the integrated front wiper relay according to the front wiper request signal (LO). FRT WIER HI OERATI BCM transmits the front wiper request signal (HI) to IDM E/R with CAN communication according to the front wiper HI operating condition. Front wiper HI operating condition - Ignition switch - Front wiper switch HI IDM E/R turns the integrated front wiper relay and the front wiper high relay according to the front wiper request signal (HI). FRT WIER INT OERATI BCM transmits the front wiper request signal (INT) to IDM E/R with CAN communication depending on the front wiper INT operating condition and intermittent operation delay interval according to the wiper intermittent dial position. 7 < FUNCTI DIAGNOSIS > FRT WIER AND WASHER SYSTEM IDM E/R turns the integrated front wiper relay so that the front wiper is operated only once according to the front wiper request signal (INT). BCM detects stop position/except stop position of the front wiper motor according to the front wiper auto stop signal received from IDM E/R with CAN communication. BCM transmits the front wiper request signal (INT) again after the intermittent operation delay interval. A B C D NOTE: Front wiper intermittent operation can be set to the operation with vehicle speed by CSULT-III. Refer to BCS-24, "WIER : CSULT - III Function (BCM-WIER)". 8 FRT WIER AND WASHER SYSTEM < FUNCTI DIAGNOSIS > When the front wiper request signal is stopped, IDM E/R turns the front wiper relay until the front wiper motor returns to the stop position. JLIA0095GB NOTE: BCM stops the transmitting of the front wiper request signal when the ignition switch is. IDM E/R turns the front wiper relay when the ignition switch is. FRT WIER OERATI LINKED WITH WASHER BCM transmits the front wiper request signal (LO) to IDM E/R with CAN communication according to the washer linked operating condition of the front wiper. BCM transmits the front wiper request signal (LO) so that the front wiper operates approximately 2 times when the front washer switch is detected. Washer linked operating condition of front wiper - Ignition switch - Front washer switch (0.4 second or more) IDM E/R turns the integrated front wiper relay according to the front wiper request signal (LO). The front washer motor is grounded through the combination switch when the front washer switch is. FRT WIER FAIL SAFE OERATI When the front wiper auto stop circuit is malfunctioning, IDM E/R performs the fail-safe function. Refer to CS-36, "Fail Safe". WW-8

13 < FUNCTI DIAGNOSIS > DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM (IDM E/R) Diagnosis Description DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM (IDM E/R) INFOID: A AUTO ACTIVE TEST Description In auto active test mode, the IDM E/R sends a drive signal to the following systems to check their operation. Oil pressure warning lamp Front wiper (LO, HI) arking lamps License plate lamps Tail lamps Front fog lamps (if equipped) Headlamps (LO, HI) A/C compressor (magnet clutch) Cooling fans Operation rocedure 1. Close the hood and lift the wiper arms from the windshield. (revent windshield damage due to wiper operation) NOTE: When auto active test is performed with hood opened, sprinkle water on windshield beforehand. 2. Turn ignition switch. 3. Turn the ignition switch, and within 20 seconds, press the front door switch LH 10 times. Then turn the ignition switch. CAUTI: Close front door RH. 4. Turn the ignition switch within 10 seconds. After that the horn sounds once and the auto active test starts. 5. The oil pressure warning lamp starts blinking when the auto active test starts. 6. After a series of the following operations is repeated 3 times, auto active test is completed. NOTE: When auto active test mode has to be cancelled halfway through test, turn ignition switch. CAUTI: If auto active test mode cannot be actuated, check door switch system. Refer to DLK-68, "Component Function Check". Do not start the engine. Inspection in Auto Active Test Mode When auto active test mode is actuated, the following 6 steps are repeated 3 times. 14 < FUNCTI DIAGNOSIS > Concept of auto active test DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM (IDM E/R) ALCIA0032GB IDM E/R starts the auto active test with the door switch signals transmitted by BCM via CAN communication. Therefore, the CAN communication line between IDM E/R and BCM is considered normal if the auto active test starts successfully. The auto active test facilitates troubleshooting if any systems controlled by IDM E/R cannot be operated.
