2 NOES Shut off the water supply. Observe all local plumbing and building codes. Carefully inspect the new toilet for damage. If the existing toilet does not have a supply shut-off valve below the tank, install one before installing the new toilet. Ensure that the new drain has the correct roughing-in dimension. ( See ROUGHING-IN) Fixture dimensions are nominal and conform to tolerances established by ASME Standards (A M). WARNING: Risk of personal injury or product damage. Handle vitreous china products very carefully. Vitreous china can break and chip if you over tighten bolts and nuts or handled carelessly. Flush the toilet, and sponge out any remaining water. Disconnect the water supply connection. Remove the old bolt caps, toilet, and -bolts, and scrape off the old wax seal from the closet flange. Fig.#1 1 Old Wax -3-

4 Insert new -bolts. If installation of the new toilet is delayed, temporarily cover the closet flange hole with a rag. -Bolts Closet Flange Fig.#2 2 O INSALL NEW BOWL Lay the toilet down onto a padded surface. Bowl Outlet Wax Outlet From the bottom of the bowl, firmly press a new wax seal around the bowl outlet. Remove the temporary rag (if used) from the closet flange. Fig.#3 3 Align and lower the bowl over the closet flange and -bolts. Apply full body weight around the bowl rim to set the seal. Do not assemble metal washers and nuts on -bolts at this time. CAUION: Risk of external leakage. Do not lift or rock the bowl after placement - if you break the watertight seal, you must install a new wax seat. Fig.#4 4 Place the bolt cap bases in the up position over each -bolts. Bolt Cap Secure the washer and nut to each - bolt. CAUION: Risk of product damage. When cutting off excess -bolt length, protect the vitreous china surface from exposure to the saw blade. CAUION: Risk of product damage. Overtightening may cause breakage or chipping of vitreous china. -Bolts Bolt Cap Base If the -bolts extend more than 6mm (14") over the nuts, cut off the excess. Snap the bolt caps onto each bolt cap base. Fig.#5 5 6 (14 ) -4-

5 O INSALL ANK ank to Bowl Gasket Slide the tank retaining bolts into the bracket attached to the bottom of the tank. he bracket is shipped in place. Install the tank-to-bowl gasket. Position the tank on the bowl by centering the gasket on the bowl inlet. Assemble the washers and nuts to the tank bolts. Alternately tighten the nuts so the tank is level and the mounting bracket tabs contact the bowl. Be sure the nuts are tight enough to achieve a watertight seal. Do not overtighten. Bolt Bolt CAUION: Risk of product damage. Overtightening may cause breakage or chipping of the vitreous china. Fig.#6 6 CONNEC HE Installation Install the trip lever if one is not already installed. Follow the instructions packed with the trip lever. Connect the supply shut-off valve to the toilet supply shank. Open the supply shut-off valve slowly to check for leaks. If the connections have been properly assembled, a slight tightening of the nuts should stop leakage. Install the toilet seat according to the packed instructions. Carefully set the cover onto the tank. Flush the toilet several times and check all connections for leaks. Periodically check for leaks for several days following the installation. -5-

6 ADJUSMENS he flush volume may be adjusted to 1.6 gallons (6 L) per flush or 1.4 gallons (5.3 L) per flush by adjusting the water level in the tank. Adjust the water level in the tank by squeezing and sliding the C-clip on the float rod. o raise the water level, slide the C-clip up. o lower the water level, slide the C-clip down. Clear obstruction in trapway, jet, or bowl rim holes. D. Clear obstruction in soil pipe or vent pipe. 2. No flush. A. Reconnect the flush ball chain to trip lever or flush valve. Adjust flush ball chain assembly to remove excessive slack. 3. Fill valve turns onoff by itself without toilet being flushed, or runs allowing water to enter tank. A. Adjust flush ball chain for proper slack so flush ball isn, t held off flush valve seat. Clean or replace flush ball if flush ball is worn, dirty, or misaligned with flush valve seat or flush valve seat is damaged. Replace flush valve seal or flush valve. C. Remove tank and tighten flush valve nut if flush valve gasket is leaking. Do not overtighten. If leakage continues, replace gasket. D. Clean fill valve seatseat washer of debris, or replace pistonseat washer assembly. E. Replace fill valve if valve float sinks. F. Adjust tank water level if too high. 4. Long tank fill cycle. A. Fully open water supply shut-off valve. Clean fill valve inlet, valve head, or supply line. Flush lines. 5. Noisy tank fill cycle. A. Partially close the water supply shutoff valve if water pressure to the toilet is too high. Check toilet performance following any such adjustment. Wipe the entire surface completely dry with a clean, soft cloth. Many cleaners contain harsh chemicals, such as ammonia, which can damage the finish. Do not use those cleaners. If you live in a hard water area, make certain that the holes in the toilet rim are kept clean to ensure proper bowl flushing. oilet bowl cleaners should be used at least once a week. Use a long-handled brush to clean the rim holes, and to clean as far into the trap as possible to prevent mineral deposits from forming. Most toilet bowl cleaners are not harmful to the vitreous china surface of the toilet bowl. Please follow the bowl cleaner manufacturer's instructions carefully. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents. WARNING: Risk of property or product damage. Do not use in-tank cleaners. Products containing chlorine (calcium hypochlorite) can seriously damage fittings in the tank. his damage can cause leakage and property damage.
