1 City of Watertown Agenda Item: Watertown City Council July 26 th, 2016 Capital Investment Plan Purchase 2007 International Dump Truck Request for Action Request for Action: Adopt Resolution # , Approving Purchase of 2007 International Dump Truck Department: Shane Fineran, City Administrator Background: The City had planned to replace its 1985 Ford single axle dump truck in 2016 with a used truck and had budgeted $75,000 for this acquisition. Staff has located a used piece of equipment from Nuss Truck & Equipment that believes will meet the needs of the Public Services department and the community for the years to come. Staff is recommending the purchase of a used 2007 International 7600 tandem axle dump truck. Truck Highlights Aluminum Body -Reversible front plow, front mount wing, underbody scraper -Stainless steel tailgate sander -Side mount brine tanks -Force America 5100 controller -133,000 miles The truck and appurtenant equipment has been inspected by staff and appears to be in good condition with the noted items to be replaced or fixed to include tires, front grill, and seats. The cab will be repainted to the color blue. The truck was previously in service by Hennepin County public works and was used in plowing and hauling operations. The dealer will take the 1985 Ford in on trade for $3,500. The quoted purchase price is $66, with the trade plus tax, title, & license. Staff recommends approval of the resolution for acquisition of this truck. 5 CITY OF WATERTOWN RESOLUTION NO RESOLUTION APPROVING ACQUISITION OF A 2007 INTERNATIONAL 7600 AND DECLARING SURPLUS EQUIPMENT WHEREAS, the City of Watertown (the City ) has planned for replacement of a single axle dump truck in its fleet; and WHEREAS, the City has identified a used 2007 International 7600 as acceptable to the needs of the community; and WHEREAS, the 1985 Ford is determined to be surplus equipment and authorizes its trade; and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Watertown, Minnesota, hereby approves the acquisition and trade with Nuss Truck and Equipment.
