1 City of Watertown Agenda Item: Watertown City Council January 24 th, 2017 Capital Investment Heavy Duty Trailer/Project #CI047 Request for Action: Adopt Resolution # , Approving Low Quote for Heavy Duty Trailer Department: Mike Dressel, Public Services Request for Action Background: In the 2017 Capital Investment Fund budget project #CI047 identified the acquisition of a heavy duty trailer in the amount of $9,000. A heavy duty trailer with a 12,000 lbs capacity will allow staff to move heavy items and equipment, specifically the Bobcat and attachments, throughout the community efficiently. The Bobcat weighs approximately 8,300 lbs without attachments. The current practice is to drive the Bobcat to job sites throughout the community at a speed of 12 miles per hour. This puts unnecessary wear on the machine and tires. In addition when the machine needs to be serviced by a certified mechanic, it requires additional transport fees for pick-up and drop-off. Staff has assembled quotes for a heavy duty drop deck trailer with pallet forks, spare tire, and tool box from the following vendors: Lano Equipment of Norwood Lano Equipoment of Corcoran Towmaster $7, $7, $7, In addition a quote was acquired for binders and chains for load securement: Fastenal $ Staff recommends the approval of the low quote from Towmaster and from Fastenal for a grand total of $7, There will be nominal additional title and registration fees paid to MN DMV once the trailer is acquired. 14 CITY OF WATERTOWN RESOLUTION NO RESOLUTION APPROVING LOW QUOTE FOR HEAVY DUTY TRAILER WHEREAS, the City of Watertown (the City ) identified the acquisition in the 2017 Capital Investment of a heavy duty trailer; and WHEREAS, the City has reviewed quotes for a heavy duty trailer and binding equipment; and WHEREAS,; Towmaster provided a low quote of $7, for a heavy duty trailer and Fastenal provided a quote of $ for binding equipment; and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Watertown, Minnesota, hereby approves the low quotes referenced.
