2 Dear Valued Customers, June 10, 2009 The catalog of products has been reorganized and new products added. I now have nice photos of all the products in color. They are available on request. We have expanded in the area of providing many of the necessary parts for re-build of the 4-cam engine. These parts include rebuilt cranks, P&C and valves, cams, bearings and gasket sets. My goal is to design parts that add to the safety of these costly engines. For the past 14 years I have been using lighter new design 1700cc and 1750cc pistons that won in my RSK at the Monterey Historics. They are lighter than the old 1600 RSK Mahle cast piston and will help save the roller cranks due to the fact that they have less rotating weight and you don t have to go beyond 7,500 rpm to achieve good performance. We are now taking orders for the new S.S.S. forged 904 and 547 Carrera and Spyder pistons in 1600, 1700, 1750 and 2000cc with Mahle rebuilt 90 & 92mm cylinders that are resurfaced and sized in sets. The pistons are machined in Germany by hand from forged Mahle blanks. The company makes and designs pistons for the best racing teams in the world. These pistons and cylinder sets today cost less than the last available 904 Mahle and Spyder sets that Porsche sold, and they are usually in stock. Our next product will be several new cams which are copied from original Porsche cams. I am racing them in my engine and one of our customer s engines. They are dyno tested and being used with special German springs. Over the past years Spyder Sports managed several complete restoration projects. We also finished a body-off preservation of a 550 and 550-A. For the 98 Monterey Historics, we completed another 550-A and a Werks RS60. Road & Track featured the RS60 in the May 2000 issue. We are working on a 550 and an RSK over the next two years. The business is moving in the direction of parts only. We have two very good fabricators to carefully duplicate all parts from the cars of the collection. The products we develop are usually complete, with plating, gaskets and fasteners. Hunting these little parts always takes a lot of time and usually you have to pay lot charges on plating and small items. All engine products are first tested in my race cars before going to market. I am in a period of scaling down the scope of the business but I m surprised at what we still can do. Most of all I enjoy being on time with your orders and I won t promise what I can t deliver. 3 SPYDER STS SALES Since 1970 PREFACE Spyder Sports is dedicated to excellence in the preservation of 4-cam race cars providing assistance and parts necessary for their proper restoration and racing performance. I have been collecting and racing the 4-cam race cars of Porsche since Of the race cars I own, have owned, and restored my goal has always been to bring these cars back to their original racing state. As a result it has been necessary to research many details and make reproduction parts for my own collection, which has led me to near full time business of providing parts and services for the other approximately 500 cars of this series. THE PURPOSE: 1. to provide accurate reproduction parts from the cars in my collection. 2. to locate and recondition and sell used parts. 3. to provide management service to owners for restoration, in a discreet, professional manner. I will travel to review any car I feel qualified to evaluate for a client. 4. I have restored 16 Spyders over the last twenty years using the same craftsmen. THE GOAL: to help support your efforts to complete your car correctly with the best original and reproduction parts available in a timely manner. I have a lot of empathy for owners who are waiting for parts to finish their projects; however, many parts are custom made to your order so please allow time for your project needs by ordering well in advance. Some items are always in stock and many require days advance notice and therefore a full deposit. I would be glad to co-manufacture and market with any owner or supplier who is presently making parts if I feel there is a need among other owners. I will be making parts in very limited quantities and in some cases where there are only a few cars involved in only one run. Other parts such as door rubber and upholstery will be done in runs every two to three years. Due to the high cost of limited production it will be necessary to have payment up front in most cases; however, I will provide a prototype example photo upon request that will show the quality and attention to detail that all our parts reflect. Customer: these cars were generally sold to customers new. Some of the customer cars however, were first used by the factory for a few races and then sold as new. In some cases certain cars were held by the factory and prepared for extra drivers. There are mistakes in this review because the history of the cars are constantly being updated with new information. This is a work in progress.
