1 TITLE FUSELAGE - DORSAL FIN VANE INSPECTION EFFECTIVITY MODEL SERIAL NUMBERS 550/ thru -0505, thru -0733, thru REASON The equivalent of this service letter has been incorporated on production airplanes and On. The dorsal inlet vanes may have cracks due to vibration. The pieces of the vane may block the fresh air check valve. DESCRIPTION This service letter provides instructions to examine the dorsal duct vanes and apply Type 1, Class B2 Sealant at the center cutout and sides to provide a dampening effect. COMPLIANCE RECOMMENDED. This service letter should be accomplished during a scheduled maintenance period or phase inspection. (Refer to Figure 1, View A-A.) Examine the and Vanes in the dorsal air inlet for cracks. A. IfanydamageorcracksarefoundgotoStep2. B. If no damage or cracks are found go to Step Remove the ram air inlet elbow. (Refer to the Maintenance Manual, Chapter 21, Tailcone Fresh (Ram) Air - Maintenance Practices.) 3. Cut the and Vanes in half. 4. Remove and discard the and the Vanes. 5. Remove all of the EA9309 Epoxy Adhesive. 6. (Refer to Figure 1, Detail A and View A-A.) Install the and Vanes. A. Curl the new vane lengthwise and secure with tie straps to aid in the installation into the duct. B. Once the vane is in the approximate position, remove the tie straps and secure the vane tabs in the appropriate inlet slots. 7. Install the ram air inlet elbow. (Refer to the Maintenance Manual, Chapter 21, Fresh Air Distribution - Maintenance Practices.) Page 2

3 8. (Refer to figure 1, View B-B and C-C.) Use Type 1, Class B2 Sealant to fill in around the edges and the center cutout of the vanes. (Refer to the Maintenance Manual, Chapter 20, Fuel, Weather, Pressure And High-Temperature Sealing - Maintenance Practices.) 9. Let the sealant cure before system operation. 10. Make an entry in the airplane logbook stating this service letter has been accomplished. Fill out and forward a Maintenance Transaction Report indicating compliance to: CESCOM, P.O.
