5 ACCOMPLISHMENT INSTRUCTIONS 1. Prepare the airplane for maintenance. A. Make sure that all landing, taxi and recognition light switches are in the off position. B. Disengage the left and right landing, taxi, and recognition circuit breakers located on the main power junction box as necessary for the configuration of the airplane. 2. (Airplanes with Pulselite.) Do an inspection of the Pulselite controller. NOTE: The C1 or C2 Pulselite Controllers are not compatible with the LED landing lights. To enable the proper function of the Pulselite system with the LED landing lights, a new controller, part number 020P0023-1, will need to be installed. A. If the Pulselite controller is part number 020P or 2401C. Go to Step 3. B. If the Pulselite controller is part number C1 or C2. Do the steps that follow to replace the Pulselite controller. (1) Remove the C1 or C2 Pulselite Controller. (2) Install the 020P Pulselite Controller. 3. Remove access panels 540AB left and 640AB right. (Refer to the Model 560 Maintenance Manual, Chapter 6, Access Plates and Panels Identification - Description and Operation.) 4. Disconnect electrical connectors JR006, JR007, JL006 and, JL Remove the landing/recognition light assemblies from the Light Brackets. (Refer to the Model 560 Maintenance Manual, Chapter 33, Lights, Recognition Light - Maintenance Practice.) A. Discard the light assemblies. B. Remove the and Light Brackets. Keep the brackets and hardware. C. Remove and discard the light lenses. 6. (Refer to Figure 2.) Build the wire harness. A. Do a continuity check of the electrical wiring as necessary. NOTE: Modification to the airplane wiring is not necessary. The wire harness will plug into the connectors on the airplane. 7. Check the fit of the (left) and (right) Light Assembly. NOTE: The light assembly or leading edge may need to be trimmed to get an acceptable fit. It is advisable to keep the distance between the light assembly and the wing fence to a minimum up to about inch (1/16) to provide proper clearance. Due to tolerance variables during the manufacturing process of the leading edge it is not possible to have standard step by step instructions for the minor modifications that may be needed. Use standard aviation maintenance and local shop practice to do the modifications necessary for the correct fit of the light assembly to the leading edge and wing fence. Some airplanes will need to increase cut-out of the leading edge for the light assembly to be installed. Other airplanes will have the leading edge cut-out wide enough to fit the light assembly but will need to trim the inside edge of the cut-out so the light assembly can be shifted inboard for a better fit between the light assembly and wing fence. This process is acceptable only when the leading edge cut-out does not exceed 7.2 inches in width. On some airplanes that the leading edge is wide enough for the light assembly to be installed and the opening may be wider than the maximum allowable of 7.2 inches. In this instance it is not advisable to remove additional material from the leading edge. If the light assembly contacts the wing fence it is acceptable to remove material from the inboard light assembly as necessary to provide clearance for the wing fence. The material removed should not be more than 0.10 inch. The gap between the wing fence and the light assembly does not need to be greater than inch to provide proper clearance. Revision 1 - September 26, 2014 Page 3

6 8. Prepare the light assemblies for installation. A. (Refer to Figure 1, View C-C.) Temporarily put the new light assemblies into position. (1) If necessary for clearance, do a modification to the (Left) and (Right) Light Brackets. (a) Remove the (Left) and (Right) Light Brackets. (b) (Refer to Figure 1, Detail B.) Remove the sides from the brackets and smooth the edges that were cut. (2) Protect all bare aluminum with color chemical film treatment and corrosion resistant primer. (Refer to the Model 560 Structural Repair Manual, Chapter 51, Protective Treatment Of Metal.) (3) Install the (Left) and (Right) Light Brackets. B. (Refer to Figure 1, View B-B.) Make a mark on each light assembly for the six inch-diameter holes. C. Remove the light assemblies. D. Drill six Number 10 (0.193 inch-diameter) Holes in each light assembly. (1) (Refer to Figure 1, View B-B.) Countersink the drilled holes to inch-diameter x 100 Degrees. CAUTION: Do not countersink the leading edge skin. (2) Deburr the drilled holes. E. Clean the lenses with Permatex Plastic Cleaner. F. Apply P840235FT Tape to cover all of the outer light lenses. NOTE: The tape will give scratch and erosion protection to the light lens (like an erosion boot). 9. (Refer to Figure 1, Detail A.) Fabricate 12 conical washers. NOTE: Before doing this step it is advisable that you thoroughly read and understand the procedure for fabricating a conical washer. NOTE: The new light assembly fits over the leading edge and will use existing fastener locations. The existing fastener locations have countersunk holes. The new installation will require the fabrication of conical waters to fill the countersunk location before the light assembly is installed. The steps that follow are basic steps to fabricate the conical washer from a standard rivet. This fabrication technique is similar to removing a rivet from an assembled part. A. Drill twelve holes thru scrap aluminum that is inch thick. NOTE: It is acceptable to use multiple pieces of aluminum for to get inch thick scrap for this procedure. B. Install MS20426AD5-4 Rivets into each of the drilled holes and form (buck) the rivet with normal drive procedures. C. Use a center punch and make an indentation in the center of the rivet head. D. Use a Number 40 drill bit and drill a hole thru the head of the rivet. NOTE: The drilled hole should be deep enough that it goes beyond the head of the rivet and into the shank without going thru the entire length of the rivet shank. The use of a drill press will help to make sure the hole is perpendicular to the horizontal line of the rivet head. NOTE: Care should be taken not to drill the rivet too fast and cause the head of the rivet to deform. E. Slowly drill the hole with a Number 30 drill bit to enlarge the hole. NOTE: Care should be taken not to drill the rivet too fast and cause the head of the rivet to deform. Page 4 Revision 1 - September 26, 2014

7 F. Slowly drill the hole with a Number 20 drill bit to enlarge the hole. NOTE: Care should be taken not to drill the rivet too fast and cause the head of the rivet to deform. G. Use a Number 10 (0.193 inch-diameter) drill bit and slowly drill thru the center of the rivet head until the shank is removed. NOTE: Care should be taken not to drill the rivet too fast and cause the head of the rivet to deform. The head of the rivet is the conical washer that will be used for the light assembly installation. 10. Install the conical washers with a light coating of Pro-seal 890, Class B1/2 Sealant. NOTE: Use just enough sealant to hold the conical washer in position. Using too much sealant can cause difficulty installing the screws for the light assembly. 11. (Refer to Figure 1, View D-D.) Install the Left and Right Wing Landing/Taxi Recognition Lights. NOTE: The and Light Brackets will be used as a doubler with the LED light installation. When the brackets are installed they will be installed backwards. The flange that secured the glass lens will face aft. Installing the brackets backwards will provide clearance for the installation of the new LED lights. A. (Refer to Figure 1, View D-D.) Install the Left and Right Wing Landing/Taxi Recognition Lights, and Light Brackets with 6 NAS1581C3T4 Screws per light. B. Connect the landing/taxi light electrical connectors to the wing electrical connectors. C.
