It is manufacture from a chloroprene material with a harness of 70 ± 5 Shore A. The honeycombe bearing surface results in an even istribution of stress over the cross section. The transverse an splitting tensile stresses prouce in the ajoining components are reuce compare with smooth elastomeric bearing plates. 4 Shear stiffness Shear eformation Proof of the horizontal shear eformation arising from non-repetitive horizontal forces is not require because small non-repetitive movements o not result in any etrimental change of the support provie by the bearing. A minimum compressive stress of 2.6 N/mm² is require in orer for the bearing to accommoate the shear eformation. Stress istribution at a bearing joint As part of Research Project F 233 of the Ministry for Urban Development, Housing an Transportation, NRW, stress istributions were investigate for various reinforce an unreinforce elastomeric bearings uner practical conitions. The results showe that significant ifferences in the levels of stress concentrations existe between the various reinforce an unreinforce elastomeric bearings. In the group of unreinforce structural bearings investigate, the most even compressive stress istribution over the bearing cross section was foun to be on the Compact Bearing CR The ratio of maximum stress to mean stress, max. σ/σ m, of 1.2 was the lowest encountere (see page 5).
