2 AB Water Meter Requirements AB 2572 Adopted on September 29, 2004 Requires urban water suppliers to install water meters on or before 2025 Definition of Urban Water Suppliers after 2005 (Water code section 10617) Bill customers within 5 years of becoming an Urban Water Supplier (Water code section 528(b)1)
3 AB Water Meter Requirements City became an Urban Provider in April 2005 April 2010 bill on actual volume of water delivered. Adjustment period of one year to gather usage data. (Water code section 528(b)2) April 2015 (10 years) entire City must be metered (Water code section 528 (a))
4 AB Water Meter Restrictions On or after January 1, 2010, any urban water supplier that applies for financial assistance from the state for a wastewater treatment project, a water use efficiency project, or a drinking water treatment project, or for a permit for a new or expanded water supply, shall demonstrate that the applicant meets the requirements of AB (Water code section 529.5)

8 Original Water Meter Estimate Cost est. was based on replacement: Sensus register ($71), Purchase of Sensus MXU ($135), Sensus TR meter ($281) and Sensus RF meter ($292) Cost for upgrading or purchase of new meters was NOT included in rate structure.
