DESCRIPTION OF ENTITY Provide a brief overview of the entity(ties): Canadian Martyrs is a one story elementary school with one gymnasium and no cafeteria. There are two boy s and two girl s washrooms and one boy s and one girl s change room for the gymnasium. There is a staff room with a staff washroom. Enrolment at the time of the waste audit was 346 students.

HOW WASTE IS PRODUCED AND DECISIONS AFFECTING THE PRODUCTION OF WASTE Categories of Waste Recyclable Plastic Non recyclable Plastic Recyclable Paper (including cardboard) Organic Paper Non recyclable Paper Recyclable Metal (including aluminum and steel) Non recyclable Metal Glass Food and Yard Waste Multi Composite/Other Waste How Is the Waste Produced and What Management Decisions/Policies Affect Its Production? Beverage and food containers from staff and students. Beverage and food wrappers from staff and students. Paper, newsprint and cardboard used in classrooms and offices as well as packaging associated with food and beverages consumed at the facility. Paper towels and disposable coffee cups. Paper towels are located within staff washrooms only and made available to staff by the custodian when required for classroom use. Negligible it was found that most paper was either recyclable or organic, small exceptions included certain wrappers used for food. Beverage and food containers from staff and students. Negligible it was found that most metal was recyclable. Negligible there is a no glass container policy in all HCDSB schools, although any glass found during the audit was a beverage container. Food waste from staff and student consumption. Any item that did not fall within one of the above categories.

MANAGEMENT OF WASTE For each category of waste listed below (or other waste listed in Part III), indicate which waste items will be disposed or reused/recycled and how each item will be managed at the entity(ies).
