53 ROTOPAC AUTOMATED ARM 10 AUTOMATED ARM 10.1 DESCRIPTION The effectiveness of the automated arm is remarkable, but incorrect use could result in damage to property and/or equipment, and could even injure or cause death. The automated arm was designed to be equally effective in collection of wheeled carts on narrow roads as on wider roads. The following sections provide all the necessary information to safely use the automated arm. The automated arm is a horizontally-shaped telescopic arm, which allows the operator to grab a wheeled cart from less than 12 from the vehicle up to 120 from the vehicle. The automated arm is operated by a joystick inside the cab LOADING WHEELED CARTS The automated arm is controlled by the movement of the joystick. The camera views automatically switch from the arm to the hopper when the arm reaches a certain position (limit switches). LOADING PROCEDURE NOTE: For joystick movement controls, refer to Figure 21, Figure 22 et Figure Stop the vehicle so the arm is facing the cart; 2. Move the joystick to the right (3h00) to extend the arm and grab the cart; 3. Press the CLOSE button on top of the joystick to close the grabber on the cart (see Figure 29); 4. Pull the joystick (6h00) to lift the cart approximately 45cm (18") off the ground (see Figure 30); 5. Move the joystick to the left (9h00) to retract the arm to the end of its course; 6. Pull the joystick (6h00) to bring the cart into the hopper and empty it (see Figure 31); 7. Ensure that the cart is empty; 8. Push the joystick forward (12h00) to lower the cart out of the hopper; 9. Move the joystick to the right (3h00) to extend the arm and put the cart back in place; 10. Press the "OPEN" button to open the grabber and release the cart (see Figure 29); 11. Push the joystick forward (12h00) to lower the clamp to its lowest position; 12. Move the joystick to the left (9h00) to retract the arm to the end of its course. GINOVE INC. 47
