2 description and advantages 2 The flexible level sensor AE-100-E is a float switch for filling levels, and it works according to the proved and tested principle of the reed switch contact. We have been using this high-quality level sensor AE-100-E for more than 10 years. It performs its tasks on every continent, no matter in great heat in Africa or great coldness at Arctic research station. In the meantime, more than AE-100-E are worldwide in use. The level sensor AE-100-E is as a rule used for the automatic requirement or shut-down of pumps in case of signaling of the specified filling-level points (shortage or excess) in tanks. In addition, remote signaling and automatic emergency cutout e.g. are also realized in case of falling below the minimum filling level. The flexible level sensor consists of a plastic cable with a switching head made of stainless steel, in which a short skid pipe is inserted. The contact reed is made of ferromagnetic material (e.g. soft iron). The operation of the contact is carried out by a magnetic field, which comes from a permanent magnet. Through this magnetic field, the both contact reeds are pulled together, and the circuit is closed. As soon as the magnetic field falls, or it drops down below a certain force, the contact opens again due to the resilience. sectional representation of the sensor reed-switching contact If one approaches the glass closure with a loadstone, the reeds will be pulled together under magnetic force and produces an electrical connection. Reed-switching contacts will be used there to switch low voltages and small currents, where it depends on reliability and the least contact transfer resistance. To protect against overfill only approved overfill protections complying with legal stipulations on tanks for liquids hazardous to waters can be used, which will automatically break the filling process when the maximum approved filling level is reached. By using diesel fuel, extra light fuel oil and gasoline from tank trucks, an approved limiting level transmitter must be used, and it is connected with the tank-truck plug so that the filling breaks automatically when reaching the maximum approved filling level. A protection like this is not necessary for tanks of till 1m³-capacity, which are manually filled with street-tank-trucks by means of closed dispensing valves on dead-man s control.
