Due to a great number of stringent regulations and increasing market competition, the packaging industry is faced with major challenges. 4 Success Story & TF-102T Live Roller Belt Success Story Background A large chain of grocery stores throughout the US and Canada with nearly 2,000 stores that produces their own brand of products which includes some 3,000 different items and 1,250 premium items. They were having problems with timing belt wear on a case packer and contacted Habasit to see how we could help resolve the problem. Problem Boxes are feed into the case packer which then loads the products into the box. The customer was currently using a Habasit timing belt with a PVC Sawtooth Top. The problem was the Sawtooth pattern was delaminating after three months of operation, which was before the belt was worn out, so they had an increase in maintenance on the machine. Results The Urethane cover lasted longer and increased the life of the belt while reducing maintenance and downtime of replacing the belt. Having the ability to work directly with technical engineers offered the customer a piece of mind they were receiving the best possible solution to their problem. Middletown has the ability to offer many different cover options for HabaSYNC timing belts and the engineering experts to help deliver the right product every time. Solution Working with the technical engineers at Habasit Middletown, we were able to provide the customer with an 1150H050 Urethane Sawtooth Top. Middletown was able to mold an extra layer of urethane to the top surface and then cut the Sawtoooth pattern into the surface of the belt, eliminating the delamination problem. TF-102T Live Roller Belt Habasit America s TF-102T live roller belt for the material handling industry is an economically priced belt made in Middletown, CT and stocked by your local Habasit distributor for fast service and repairs. Made with Aramide cords embedded in the TPU layer, this belt can navigate small pulleys and help decrease rising replacement cost. If needed, the TF-102T can be spliced into your existing belt and spliced using your existing tools. 5 Timing belts in glass industry & Updated Joining Data Sheets HabaSYNC Timing Belts in the Glass and Solar Industry HabaSYNC timing belts are commonly used on pop up conveyors, edger s, surface finishers, cutters, drilling lines, printing/etching lines and laminating lines. While HabaSYNC belts deliver precise synchronization, they alone may not be enough to handle the conveying surface requirement your application demands. Here, we can help. We offer a broad range of covers and modifications that can be added to both open end and flex belts. HabaSYNC covers are available in a broad range of materials- TPU, PVC, EPDM and Rubber; including Linatex and Linitrile. For primary and secondary glass conveying applications, we recommend white or transparent TPU which has good frictional benefits as well as being cut and wear resistant Precise, safe and effective product transfers are some of the key challenges faced when transporting glass. Whether you are stacking or destacking plate glass after manufacturing or moving fabricated glass through secondary fabrication operations, Habasit has the right answers using HabaSYNC timing belts. HabaSYNC timing belts, whether joined endless or truly endless, can be engineered to meet the exact needs of your application. HabaSYNC open end belts and flex belts can be produced to specific lengths. If glass sticking to the conveying surface is a concern, especially if water is nearby, we suggest our FAF herringbone cover or foams, like silicone or sylomar. For special handling, such as where water or vacuum requirements surround the belt, we can machine modify the belt and cover to include holes and slots as well as angular or lateral grooving HabaSYNC - where fabricated synchronous conveying solutions are our business. Updated Joining Data Sheets for HySAN Food Conveyor and Processing Belts The Joining Data Sheets for the HAB-8EOWV, FAB-12EOWV, FAW-8EOWV and NVT-512 have been updated. To avoid the yellowing in the joining area, we strongly recommend the use of our HySAN meltable foil - XVP The foil is in stock at our Suwanee, GA facility and is available in 90mm x 328 ft. rolls. 6 KAM Profiles Key Account Manager Profiles Harry Koster Harry Koster has been with Habasit for 5 years and serves as the KAM for the states of Kansas, Nebraska, Missouri and parts of Iowa and Illinois. Overall, Harry has 31 years of sales experience, including 28 years in the belting industry. As a Habasit KAM, Harry enjoys seeing all the products being made in factories and being able to identify customer s problems and, in return, providing solutions to counter those problems. A large change Harry has seen while at Habasit, Harry has seen the company change from separate sales forces, divided between plastic and fabric, to a unified sales force that covers all product lines. This has allowed him to personally provide even more solutions to his customer s needs and the chance to expand his knowledge of Habasit products. In his spare time, Harry enjoys all types of outdoor activities from spending time on his farm and establishing habitat for wildlife to hunting and fishing. He also likes spending time with his family (wife Linda and two sons Ryan and Peter) and friends and attending high school sporting events. Chad Tebben For the past 12 years, Chad has served as Habasit s Key Account Manager for the states of Illinois and Indiana. Chad started his career in belting 18 years ago at Sparks Belting. Chad has seen a lot in his years with Habasit. Among these are the continued growth of the company and new products like HabasitLINK, HabaSYNC, and Cleandrive. As Chad puts it, Habasit has the widest product range in the industry. We are a one stop shop for the conveying world. Working with all my customers and being part of a process that produces a successful solution for everyone is what Chad enjoys most about his job. On this subject, Chad adds, The most enjoyable times have been solving the hardest issues and applications. It gives me a sense of pride and accomplishment in my job. Habasit has been a great progressive place to work and I am thankful for the people I have met. Chad looks forward to continuing to supply his customers with the best service and solutions in the years to come and hopes to eventually move into a management role. Chad is an avid Chicago sports fan, following the White Sox, Bears and Blackhawks. In addition to being a spectator, Chad also likes participating in everything from golf, fishing and snowmobiling to softball. He also enjoys spending time with his family (especially spoiling his nieces and nephew). 6
