2 Dear partner, As team manager, I would like to congratulate you with choosing Solar Boat Twente. Solar Boat Twente is an emerging and sustainable project, to which fifteen students from various disciplines, studying at the University of Twente (Enschede, The Netherlands), devote themself pursuing their dream: designing, building and racing a solar powered boat at the Monaco Solar Boat Challenge By using cutting edge technology and cooperating with market leaders, Solar Boat Twente strives for a top-three result in this international championship. As well as a great result in the race, the team will take home something else: realising a dream from the ground up. This will not only make for immense personal development for all team members, it will also showcase practical usage of sustainable energy. The power of a strongly motivated team with a single goal is the driving force behind this project. For supporting organisations like you, Solar Boat Twente offers a broad platform for promoting sustainable energy and high-tech development in the maritime sector. 3 Why get Involved? Solar boat races are nothing new: the first races were held over ten years ago. Solar Boat Twente will take this idea to the Twente region. Never before has a solar boat been built on Twente grounds. This offers exclusive possibilities to stakeholders: the multidisciplinary team has the opportunity to design and build a boat without any prejudice and cooperating organisations are given the opportunity to be the first to present themselves on an international platform for innovation and development of sustainable technology. Besides participating in the Monaco Solar Boat Challenge 2017, the solar boat will also be sailed ath the Eneco Solar Boat Race 2017 in Akkrum (The Netherlands), the Dutch National Championship. This well-attended event has an informal atmosphere in which visitors are invited to take a close look at the race and the boats alike. Such an event creates the opportunity to present your organisation on a Dutch national level. Solar Boat Twente Prospectus 3

4 The Boat Because the boat is designed from scratch it is truly one of a kind. What immediately stands out are the wings, so called hydrofoils, to reduce its drag in the water. Except from these wings, the whole boat is made out of carbon fibre composite material. The innovations that set this boat apart from the rest of the competition are the solar deck and the electronical control of the hydrofoils. The hydrofoils lift the hull out of the water at speeds of 20km/h or higher. These hydrofoils can be controlled electronically, to keep the boat stable, instead of mechanically. Advanced sensors collect data, which will be used for the hydrofoil control system. The solar deck is made out of thin-film solar cells. These are lighter, cheaper and easier to produce than conventional panels. Massive improvements in efficiency have been made past years. This boat is a proving ground for the technology. 5 Promotional materials Promotional materials will be especially visible during the build-up to events organised by Solar Boat Twente, but also on fairs and during other events in which Solar Boat Twente takes part. All fifteen team members will wear multiple pieces of branded and recognisable clothing, which will be used on a daily basis as well as during events in which Solar Boat Twente is present or involved. The boat has to be transported constantly to venues across Europe. The team uses a giant trailer to make sure the boat is where it needs to be at all times. The blank surface of the trailer is a riding billboard ready to carry your brand. Website and social media The Solar Boat Twente website has a young and hightech look. We are also active on various social media like, among others, Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIN. Our Facebook and Twitter pages (comparable pages constitute to 1000 to 2000 likes) are updated nearly every week, always with a hyperlink to the website The demographic group involved consists mainly of Twente residents, though Solar Boat Twente is known throughout the country. 6 Follow-up on contribution Solar Boat Twente strives for maintaining durable relationships with partnering organisations. One of the ways we live up to that goal is by keeping you, as a supporting organisations, up to date on what is accomplished with your contribution.
