Select Alignment mode. 5. Select Runout mode. 6. Select Tilt mode. 7. Setup Alignment Mode Selection Select the alignment mode to perform, select the check mark to confirm selection. 41

Runout Mode Selection Select the Runout mode to perform, select the check mark to confirm selection Tilt Function Select the Tilt mode to perform, select the check mark to confirm selection. Tilt function: this function allows the inclination of the sensor at front or rear to avoid obstructions with the body of the car to be aligned, mostly used on cars with spoilers. After Alignment is finished the tilt mode will return to level. Note: The minimum amount of inclination should be selected to avoid the obstruction, this is to avoid possible light intrusion. It is recommended not to tilt both front and rear wheel units at the same time, or it can lead to beam blocks. 42

Key Pad Leveling Led Runout lights. The first set of LEDs will operate according to the type of Run Out selected. The Runout LEDs will flash while taking readings, once complete will show solid on next rim clamp position. Once the wheel is complete the LED positions performed will be solid. To initiate the Runout process, select the first Key on the keypad and the function will initiate Normal Runout Follow the instructions on the screen and position the wheel clamp pointing down as the screen shows. It is important that the wheel unit and rim clamp does not move once the Runout key is pressed. Note: Runout can be started at any wheel, but you must finish the wheel before moving on the next one. Level and lock all wheel units press the Runout key on the wheel unit to star the Runout procedure. 43

Turn the rim clamp 180 degrees until the handle is pointing up, at this point select the Runout key on the Keypad ( avoid any movement on the wheel at this point ). Also check to make sure opposite side is still level. Once the Runout is finished on this wheel the indication will be completely green and you are ready to move to the next wheel, you can select the next wheel in any order. On the keypad both position LEDs will be lit solid. Beam Block during Runout: During the Runout it is possible to have a beam block indication, this will show as red line on the communication segment between the heads on the screen, when you have this indication look for any kind obstruction between the wheel units, once you remove the obstruction, the Beam Block indication will disappear. 44

Saturation of the readings during Runout. If the exposure capacity of the CCD in any wheel unit is exceeded you will get a yellow indication on the communication segment of the wheel units on the screen. To correct the saturation event the first step is to define if there is any excessive light affecting the wheel units. Many times the yellow readings will disappear by themselves and they are generated during the self adjusting process of the CCD s Causes of saturation: 1. External light source 2. Wheel unit positions too close-contact service No Runout detected: white tires indication This means that during the Runout procedure no variation between the positions was detected and the software understands this as that the function was not performed. To correct this reading be sure to repeat the Runout performing proper operation. In the event that you have a perfect rim and perfect mounting that is indicating a zero Runout You can select continue with one or more white wheels. Excessive Run Out: Yellow Tires indication: When you get a yellow tire, it an indication that the amount of Runout on that specific wheel exceed the limits defined on the equipment as maximum Runout The most possible cause for Yellow Runout will be a improper mounting of the clamp on the rim, to correct this, demount and mount the rim clamp again to obtain better mounting of the clamp. Make sure clamps not mounted on a wheel weight or there is rim damage. If the screen displays yellow tires, this issue needs to be addressed before continuing, to get proper alignment readings. 45

All Wheel Runout: ( Also known as Rolling Runout) This method of Runout is performed on the vehicle by moving it, backward and forward so that the wheels are turned 180 to reach the compensation points. To do the rolling Runout, the steering wheel must be in the straight position and it should not move during the process. It is critical that the alignment Rack or Pit has enough space to move the car back and forth with out getting out of the predictable surface. With the rolling Runout the variation on the four wheels is measured all at once. To initiate the process: * Se- * the screen will indicate the first step, looser all of the wheel units on the rim clamps ( m ove the vehicle back until the clamps are pointing down, level and lock the wheel units and press the Runout key on the key pad on any wheel unit ). Rolling runout 1st position complete Rolling runout 2nd position complete Once the wheels show the half green indication ( 1 st position image ), the first half of the Runout is complete looser the wheel units. Push the car forward, until the clamps are in the up position ( 180 movement ). Once positioned level and lock the wheel units, press the Runout key and wait for the readings to be completed by the display of all green tire on the screen. Performing the all wheel Runout it is critical that the wheels stay straight and the car is moved in a smooth form back and forward. 46

Four Point Runout Another option for the Runout process is the Four Point Runout. With this mode the runout is performed through the vials on the heads only, and the runout is calculated in relation to the variation of camber with the specific wheel. This mode is usually selected if there is an obstruction of the CCD and cameras from front to rear. The initial setup requires you to mount the rim clamps at the 9:00 position. Follow the instructions on the screen, moving the clamp 90 degrees each time, the wheel will change its color to indicate the progress of the steps. It is important that you are consistent on the direction that you move the wheel. When you are doing Four Point Runout the indication of Beam Block is not active. Rotate again the wheel clamp 90 degrees according to the instructions on the screen. 47

Last position of the four point Runout, when you select the run out key, the process will be finished. Final Screen of the four point Runout indicates that this wheel is complete, you can then move to the next tire in any sequence that you will like. Preparation for the Alignment 48

Once the Run Out is performed these steps must be performed before continuing the alignment. All of there steps are fundamental to produce a good alignment Special Runout This mode is used when special rim clamps are available only. This will let you bypass the runout procedure. If this mode is used with conventional clamps the alignment readings will not be accurate Caster Swing Continue to next module. Backup to previous module. Perform caster swing. Also can be selected from the wheel unit. Follow instructions on the screen for proper setup to perform the Caster Swing. 49

When performing the caster swing the steering, wheel will start in the center position and the program will prompt you to turn the wheel to the left. The target is shown on the display as well as on the wheel unit. Once in the target range, the arrow will turn green, you must hold the wheels steady. A stop sign will appear, reading of the wheel units are being taken at this time so it is very important to hold the wheels steady. Once the readings are complete you will be prompted for the next position, turn the wheels to the right until within range. After the right target reading is complete the program will prompt to move the wheels to center position. Once the center target is achieved a STOP sign will appear during which the steering should not be moved. Note: wheel unit caster swing LEDs can also be used to help guide user through caster swing process. Push the side of the tire in toward the vehicle where the RED LEDs are displayed. The LEDs will turn green when the wheels are in range. 50

Print screen function This is a sample of the print screen function where all the data available at the display all page is transferred to the printer. Finishing the alignment process It is critical that the alignment process is finished properly and the proper steps are followed to exit the program. The improper steps to choose the alignment program will affect the operation of the soft were and will affect the ability to store the results information Adjustments Meters: At any time from the display all page the adjustments meters can be displayed. This is convenient when the technician needs make alignment angle adjustments. 52

Jack & Hold Function In some of the alignment adjusting process is required to lift the car to realize specific adjustments ( adding shims and others ). The Jack & Hold function allow the wheel to be lifted and to correct the camber reading subtracting the amount of variation that there was on the reading when the car was lifted. Allowing the operator to get reading as when the car is on the floor. If any not allowed command is select during the Jack & Hold process a warning message will upper indicating the actual function of the system. When the system is on the Jack & Hold function this icon changes to show the arrows in a different position ( pointing down ) Once the Jack & Hold function is selected again the system will go out of this function and the reading on the display will be direct. The Jack & Hold function is also available to be used on the rear wheels. Its operation is the same that the front wheels. 53

The following screen will be displayed: You will need to make the LEFT side Toe adjustment to be within the proper range in order to continue with the Fast Toe procedure. Once the adjustment is made so that the toe readings in with specification, the CONTINUE button will be displayed. The CONTINUE key can be selected from the screen or from the Wheel Unit. 57

After pressing the CONTINUE key you will be directed to the LEVEL/CENTER STEERING WHEEL of the vehicle. The following screen will be displayed: 58 You will be required to center the steering wheel and to have both the LEFT and RIGHT side Toe read-

ings within specifications in order to CONTINUE. If you cannot get either the LEFT or RIGHT side to be within specifications then you will have to repeat the Fast Toe procedure. If the adjustment is done properly, you will be able to level the steering wheel and have both LEFT and RIGHT Toe readings within specifications and then the CONTINUE button will be displayed, allowing you to finish the Fast Toe procedure and return to the DISPLAY ALL Page. The CONTINUE key can be selected from the screen or from the Wheel Unit. The following screen will be displayed once the LEFT and RIGHT Toe readings are within specifications: 59

4.3.9 Saved Readings ( B efore data ) When first going into the Display All Page, the current alignment readings will automatically be saved as the Saved readings. If there is any change in alignment readings that you want to save as the the Saved readings you MUST press the Refresh Save Readings button. For example; if a Caster Swing is performed for the first time from Display All you will need to make sure to select the Refresh Saved Readings button to store the Caster values in the Saved Readings NOTE: The saving of the current alignment data to the saved readings does NOT save the alignment data to the currently selected customer record in the database. You must select the Save Alignment Data button to perform this step. This is explained in detail the next section. 60

Save Alignment Data to Customer Record If a customer record with a Work Order has been selected from the Customer module, then the Display All page will have a button available for saving the alignment data to the customer record. When the Save Customer Alignment data button is selected, you will receive a confirmation prompt, stating that the data has been saved to the Work Order. If you select Finish Alignment button and the customer data has not been saved at least once to the Work Order, a prompt will be displayed asking you if you want to save the customer data. 61

If you select Yes, you will be returned to the Display All Page and then expected to select the Save Customer Data button. Then you can select the Finish Alignment. NOTE: Do not remove the wheel units or move them in any way before saving the alignment data. The alignment data saved to the customer record is exactly what is on the screen. If you select No, then the Finish Alignment process will continue without saving the current alignment data to the Work Order and no data will be saved for later recall Default Rim Size with no Vehicle Specification If you are doing an alignment and did not select a Vehicle Specification and the Alignment settings are set to Toe at Rim/Tire and you are in linear measurement display for the Toe readings the default Rim/Tire size screen will be displayed. This screen will allow you to change the diameter reference size if necessary for the vehicle you are performing an alignment on. 62

There is major adjustment and minor adjustment buttons available to change the Diameter reference size. You can select the unit of measure for the Diameter reference and the system will store that setting for next time. Once you have finished entering the diameter reference size, select the check mark ( OK ) button to continue to Display All. 4.4 Set up Configuration Language selection Screen Language The language display on the screen can be selected, several languages are available, and the selected language will remain as default selection. Report language This function allows the use of different language for the printed report than the language used on the screen Selection of Units Selection of units: the units alignment angle can be selected for the preference of the operator. 63

Selection of the Toe Units Toe units can be selected according to the options that are displayed on the screen. Selection Camber/Caster units Camber and caster units can be selected according to the options that are displayed on the screen. Selection Ride Height Units Ride height: units can be selected according to the options displayed on the screen 64

4.4.3 Options Shut Down on Exit Note: In the upper portion of the menu exist an additional configuration menu. Shut down system on exit: is if checked, the computer will shut down completely when the operator exits alignment software. Toe at Rim/Tire In the Setup screen, if the option to have Toe at Rim/Tire is selected, there is also the option to change the default diameter reference values that will be used if no specification is Toe at rim/ tire: there exist two ways to read toe: North American toe is the difference between the dimension A and the dimension B both of them measured at the center of the tire. For this toe method the calculation is done in inches and this calculation is based on the assumption of a wheel with a tire diameter of ( 2 degrees of toe are equal to 1 inch of toe when the tire diameter is equal to ) Toe at the rim ( European toe ) : When the toe is measured under the European ( and most of the Asian ) standards the toe is the difference between the dimension A and the dimension B ( illustration 2 ) measured at the rim ( inside edges ) 65

When toe at the rim is selected the specification will provide the rim diameter and this value is necessary for the correct calculation of the toe. Even though the angles measured are the same between North American and European toe the readings will be different due to the point of reference ( vs. the actual rim diameter ) is recommended that you use the toe on the rim if you are working with the European specification data base, if you are working with European cars but located in the American data base this selection is not necessary. AMERICAN TOE EUROPEAN TOE Demo Mode Demo mode: if checked, the machine will be able to got through the operation of the unit in a simulated mode, with out reading the wheel units, this mode is convenient for training and demonstration process 66

Wheel Unit Port This option is required at the initial set up of the machine and defines the serial communication port, that the computer will communicate to the wheel units. Once this port is selected it will only be necessary to make a change in the case that you change or modify your computer ( in most of the systems the default port is #1 ) Multiple wheel units This option only should be selected if the alignment machine is equipped with two different sets of wheel units ( one set for passenger cars and one set for heavy trucks) if this is selected with out having two sets of wheel units will affect the speed of the operation of the software. 67

i-mote With this option you will activate the operation of the remote control i-mote i-mote is our exclusive remote display compatible with all the SML platforms that will allow the technician to work at any position around the car displaying live readings on the double display. 2 Wheel Only Caster Swing Mode There are some cases that the track readings of the wheel units could be blocked, this could be from a lift being in the way of the track signal, interference by an outside light source, or based on how the wheel units were mounted on the rims. To resolve this situation, you will need to select the 2 Wheel Only Caster Swing mode from the Setup screen. 68

This mode will allow you to perform a caster swing and ignore the track readings while doing the caster swing. NOTE: This does NOT change the alignment mode of the current alignment that is being performed. Wireless Wheel Unit Screen below allows you to select if system is wired or wireless. 69

4.5 Quick Alignment Is the process to directly access the alignment reading with minimal steps. Once you are on the Display-All page you can select: Caster Swing Customer Data Vehicle Specification 4.6 Exit Program Select the exit program icon only when the alignment has completed and you wish to exit the program. Exit Program When the exit program icon is selected the user will be prompted to confirm or deny their selection by clicking Yes/No. 70
