This can be either right or left depending on the circuit. TR16. LAUNCH CONTROL - REGULATION A Audi Sport customer racing has developed a launch control (LC) system that must be used at the start of any Standing Start race in accordance with Regulation A The LC limits the wheel slip to deliver consistent starts that maximise the acceleration off the line. The LC has only one setting and is not affected by the position of the ASR dial. The LC controls the engine speed prior to the start and then regulates slip up to 80km/h. The regulation is deactivated at 80 km/h, or when 2 nd gear is selected. TR16.1 USING LAUNCH CONTROL. Once the software is installed the LC is always active. When the car is stationary with the clutch paddle engaged and at full throttle the engine map will regulate the revs and manage the start when the clutch is disengaged. 1. Pull clutch paddle. 2. Depress throttle fully. 3. Release clutch paddle fully to start keeping the throttle at maximum. To cancel the LC at any time you can: 1. Shift up to 2 nd gear. Figure 9 shows the LC active displays on the dash. Audi R8 LMS Cup Tech. Restrictions: PUBLISHED v1.3

PUSH-TO-PASS. A Push-to-Pass (P2P) system has been introduced for the 2017 Audi R8 LMS Cup season. This function will add to the strategic element of racing by allowing drivers to select when to use additional engine power. The system requires that the following parts are installed: Part Number Description Qty 07L F Throttle body 2 07L F Seal ring 2 07L D Seal ring 2 N Bolt 8 - SPAA05-RPD control unit 1 - SPAA05-RPD display panel 2 - SPAA05-RPD wiring loom CU to car 1 - SPAA05-RPD wiring loom CU to display 1 The system offers a predefined number of activations of a predetermined duration. It is activated via the Timer button mounted on the steering wheel as indicated in figure 12. The number and duration of the activations will be adjusted at each Event and announced by Sporting Bulletin. The number as well as duration of the activations can be reset and/or changed by race service provider personnel and will be observed by the scrutineering officials. Switching the car off or any other driver action does not reset the system. Audi R8 LMS Cup Tech. Restrictions: PUBLISHED v1.3
16 The power increase is delivered via the throttle opening therefore it is only available at full throttle and not on part throttle. Figure 12: Steering Wheel Push-to-Pass button. The dash includes a P2P section as per figure 13 below. When P2P is not active the display has a white background and shows the number of activations remaining. Figure 13: Dash showing number of P2P activations remaining. The system is activated by pressing the P2P button (see figure 12) on the steering wheel once (single short press and release). It will only be activated if the throttle is fully depressed. If all of the criteria to activate the P2P are met (revs, throttle etc.) the activation will be shown using the same section in of the display. During activation the background turns blue and the predefined time is shown and counts down to zero as per figure 14. When active the side LED indicator lights will flash. Different classes will utilise different colour display. Audi R8 LMS Cup Tech. Restrictions: PUBLISHED v1.3
17 Figure 14: Dash display showing P2P active with time remaining counting down. A single activation is show below in figure 15. Figure 15: Single activation of P2P. If the button is pressed again during an active phase, this input is ignored and the remaining activation is completed. This is shown in figure 16. In this case the second P2P is not used so only one activation is used. Figure 16: Second activation request that fails as first activation is still in progress. If the driver keeps the button depressed the next activation is not triggered immediately after the completion of the current procedure. The system requires a second depression of the button to engage a second activation. This is shown in figure 17. The activation in figure 17 would register as two P2P activations but only because the button is pushed twice. Audi R8 LMS Cup Tech. Restrictions: PUBLISHED v1.3
18 Figure 17: P2P not re-activated due to very long or continuous button press. The system is active from the moment that the car is switched on therefore if the button is pressed on a formation lap and the throttle is fully depressed it will register as a use.
