Larkin Braxton will go in game one for the T-Bones against Brett Lawson. Game two will see Lavon Lewis for Kansas City and Glenn Bott for the Goldeyes. BRAXTON, ROUND 2: Braxton, who was signed last week out of Belhaven College, is making his second professional start tonight against the Winnipeg Goldeyes. Braxton made his first start on May 20, going five and two-thirds innings, allowing two earned runs on six hits and three walks. He notched two strikeouts and got the win as the T-Bones defeated the Schaumburg Flyers NOT CLOSE: After last night s 8-7 loss to the Goldeyes, the T-Bones fell to 0-2 in one-run games this season. The other loss came on May 22 against Edmonton, 6-5. The T-Bones had trouble in one-run games last season as well, finishing in those situations in JUST MAKE CONTACT: Calvin Pickering is now batting.615 (8-13) on the season. Pickering is batting when he puts the ball in play, with all five of his outs this season coming via the strikeout. He has two home runs, a double, and five RBI in just four games. PITCHING WINS CHAMPIONSHIPS: The T-Bones offense leads the Northern league with a.303 team batting average, 10 home runs, and 57 runs scored, which is 12 more than second-place Joliet. But Kansas City s pitching staff is fifth in the league with a 5.20 ERA, has 52 strikeouts (seventh), and 51 walks allowed (first). In the last five games, the T-Bones offense has scored 39 runs, but the team is only 2-3, thanks to two one-run losses and a pitching staff that has compiled a 5.32 ERA.
