8 1.1 PROTECTION LEVEL Protection Level: Roof protection: Floor protection: CEN VR6+/ BR6+ Against a minimum of two DM 51 grenades or one HG85 grenade Against a minimum two DM 51 or two HG85 grenades Side blast protection: Landmine protection: Against 12.5 kg PETN (equivalent to 15kg Geosit) Against 2 land mines (2x DM31optional) 1.2 TESTS / APPROVALS / CERTIFICATIONS Material tests: All protective materials are tested, approved and certified by independent ballistic German Governmental Laboratories (Beschussamt Germany). Certification: Alpha Armouring SUVs are fully ballistic / blast approved and certified by ``QinetiQ UK``. 1.3 ALPHA ARMOURING BALLISTIC CONVERSION General: The ``Alpha Armouring Armour System`` is designed to protect the driver and the passengers from high-level ballistic multi-impact attacks with military weapons, explosives and blast fragmentation. The external appearance of an ``Alpha Armouring SUV`` is identical to the OEM base vehicle. Opaque Armour: The ``Alpha Armouring Inside Safe Box System``: This Alpha Armouring System provides full protection for the complete vehicle interior, providing the highest ballistic protection against explosives and rifle attacks. This fully welded ballistic inside cage system is made from ``Thyssen Secure`` ballistic steel. Overlap system: Substantial overlaps for all opaque and transparent areas, with all gaps ballistically sealed with spall returns around the window apertures and all five doors (including the bottom of the doors). Floor protection: ``Thyssen Secure`` armoured steel provides greatly enhanced protection from grenade attacks (2 x DM51 grenades / 2x HG85). Roof protection: The roof steel protection system includes a 90 ballistic input angle (BRV 2009 VR7 and the CEN standard only requires 45 ). The roof steel protection also provides enhanced protection against blast attacks 1x HG85 or 2 x DM51 grenades. Fuel Tank: ``Thyssen Secure`` armoured steel protection from blast attacks.

9 1.4 ALPHA ARMOURING NON-STEPPED GLAZING SYSTEM Glazing: The ``Alpha Armouring Non-Stepped Glazing System``, is fitted in solid tailor made steel frames to avoid cracking on the glass edges, and to guarantee that the windows are held in place in the event of an attack. ``The Alpha Armouring Non-Stepped Glazing System`` Most armoured vehicles made by other manufactures are equipped with stepped armoured glass, fitted to the original base vehicle window frames (front, doors, rear sides and rear). It is a very ineffective, cheap method just to remove the original glasses and then fit the armoured glasses (on the outside steps) into the original frames. If stepped glasses are installed in an armoured car, all the heavy weight from the armoured glass just hangs on the tiny outside step from the armoured glazing package. Cracking on the edges is almost guaranteed.
