4 BIGGER IS BETTER Our hot-forming process allows larger armour sections to be manufactured than is possible with traditional engineering methods. That means fewer joins between sections, which significantly enhances ballistic and blast protection. No loss of comfort or space The hot-formed armouring material is shaped into sections that exactly follow the contours of the standard vehicle s internal construction, thus maintaining the interior volume. FEATURES Chassis Technology. As with all PSV vehicles, the Avalon SHIELD is equipped with state-of-the-art chassis components to give truly dynamic on-road performance.

6 FEATURES Chassis Technology. As with all PSV vehicles, the Avalon SHIELD is equipped with state-of-the-art chassis components to give truly dynamic on-road performance. Braking Developed exclusively for the PSV Avalon SHIELD, AP Racing 4-piston front and rear brake calipers act on larger discs. This brake system is so powerful that the armoured Avalon SHIELD braking performance is identical to its non-armoured cousin. Suspension The Eibach anti-roll bars and springs were developed together with Bilstein shock absorbers to function as a complete chassis solution. The addition of a front strut brace completes the superb handling package. Secondary Vehicle Electrical Distribution System (SVEDS ) The vehicle is fitted with a completely separate wiring system for all additional PSV (non-standard vehicle) features. The wiring system runs within the vehicle armouring, has a single common earth, and a dedicat-ed fuse box that can be accessed from within the armoured passenger compartment. Black-Out Function* The entire external and internal lighting system can be disengaged at the press of a switch. This enables discreet use of the vehicle at night. A glowing red light indi-cates the system is active. StartSafe II* This optional feature automatically isolates an auxiliary battery in the event that power is drained from the primary system. Intercom This high quality Hänsch system is hidden from view and allows 2-way communication between occupants and persons outside the vehicle without the need to open the doors or windows. Battery Cut-Off This system enables all non-critical vehicle systems to be deactivated so reducing the drain on the battery. This feature allows the vehicle to hibernate when in long-term storage without damaging the battery. Battery Protection The vehicle batteries are completely protected against ballistic threats. The batteries are easily accessible for maintenance. Remote positive and negative battery terminals are readily accessible. Engine Control Unit (ECU) The vehicle s ECU controls the vehicle s vital functions, so is fully protected against ballistic threats. Fuel Tank BattleJacket self-sealing and self-healing technology protects the vehicle s fuel tank. This system was originally developed for the United States armed forces and is thoroughly battle proven. Hinges The heavy-duty hinges connect the armour material in the doors directly with armour material in the pillars; no weight is carried by the standard vehicle sheet metal. Run Flat System Allow the vehicle to be driven at speeds up to 80 Km/h for up to 50 kilometres. The system is approved and used by the British, German and Spanish armed forces. Fire Protection* An optional gel-based fire suppression system is installed within the engine and wheel well areas. In the event of a fire, the gel is pumped through special hoses to strategically placed nozzles. The system can be manually or automatically activated. Wheels The alloy wheels have a payload, certified by Germany s TÜV, to exceed the fully laden vehicle s axle weights. Windows* Operable window systems are optionally available for all 4 doors. The electrohydraulic system reliably lowers the glass by approximately 15 centimetres allowing for document pass through. * optional
