11 Field Cultivator Sweeps, Points and Accessories Dual Tillage Knives Wiese dual tillage knives are designed to fit most field cultivators, allowing the farmer to apply fertilizer in one pass while preparing the seedbed. The DT3 is one of the heaviest field cultivator knives available today. Drop-forged and heat-treated, this knife will provide superior wear and added strength in the stem. The DT3 is an excellent choice in Rocky or tough conditions. Available plain or hard-faced. Plow bolts are not required. The DT4 thin-profile knife provides minimum soil disturbance while sealing well in most soil conditions. This knife is designed using a 7/16 thick twisted shank. The DT41607 chrome insert version is recommended for most applications. The high-chrome alloy provides maximum wear on the foot and leading edge of the knife, making this knife a great value. The patented design of the Penetrator sweep features 70% of the cutting edge inclined to a 30 angle. University tests have shown that the Penetrator requires 35-50% less force to penetrate than conventional chisel sweeps. The boron alloy allows the blade to flex when striking an obstruction and return to its original shape, greatly reducing breakage or bending. The following are hole patterns for some of the more popular hubs. Refer to your owner's manual for new coulter diameter and thickness recommendations. Center hole refers to the diameter of the hole that fits around the shaft. This dimension is typically 1/16" larger than the actual shaft size to prevent rubbing. Bolt circle refers to the diameter of a scribed circle through the centers of the bolt holes. Do not simply measure the distance from one bolt hole to another across the center hole. This can lead to an incorrect fit of the new coulter. Bolt holes refers to the quantity and diameter of the holes that the bolts fit through. The first number is the number of bolt holes. The second number is the diamter of the bolt hole. This dimension is typically 1/32" larger than the bolt to be used. 47 Plow Parts Plow parts Wiese plow parts, including shares, shins, moldboards, landsides and trashboards, are manufactured using high-carbon, heat-treated steel. The LW series plowshares are upset forged, making the nose section of the plowshare resistant to breakage and wear. Most LW shares are also available with hardfacing on the tip and blade. Rib plow shares have a raised bevel running horizontally for added strength and wear. Plow parts are listed below according to make and bottom series. Please remember when replacing one part on a plow, it may be necessary to loosen other parts to allow for wear. For example, when replacing the shin it may be necessary to loosen the moldboard and the share to allow the new part to fit. Then simply tighten other parts when proper alignment is achieved.
