2 Cos de Mossos d Esquadra was founded in1721, it was the first police body in Europe created to guarantee internal protection. Currently that Cos de la Policia de la Generalitat-Mossos d Esquadra is a comprehensive police force with effective officers and a projection growth of by 2015

4 ANTECEDENTS: Up until 2008 periodical acquisitions of vests certified with norm NIJ 3A i/o SK1. In 2008 conversions began with different fibre producers. In 2009 the risk analyses by the Cos de Mossos d Esquadra began in order ensure proper protection for its real risks.

5 PARAMETERS: Study of the attacks perpetrated against our agents in the last 5 years, with fire arms, weapons and blunt objects. Study of the fire arms which were intervened in Catalonia in the last 5 years. Analysis and collection of the techincal characteristics of existant munition in the different units of the Cos de Mossos d Esquadra. Analysis of the socio-cultural factors that play a role in confrontation.

For long range it is superior to 10 meters. Contact shots with a 9 mm caliber. Generally when the agressor is agitated he will engage in direct contact with the police officer.

Mainly in functions of public order and crowd control there is a need for protection against the throwing of blunt objects. In situations where there is a need to control a perimeter with explosive artifacts, it is necessary to have protection against fragments moving at high speeds.

11 CONCLUSIONS: Having finalized the analysis we can conclude that our protection needs are as follows: Outer Vests Must have multi-risk protection that covers all the necessities mentioned in the analysis as well as their outer shells being fireproof.

13 CONCLUSIONS: Inner Vests With ballistic protection similar to that determined by the risk analysis, and blunt object protection of level 1. Protection is reduced to increase ergonomics and to reduce weight.
