A Road book giving driving directions and instructions and a Speed chart are given. The judges are known as Marshals and they are respected Volunteers. They are placed on the rally route but their positions are unknown to you. You have to travel on a specific route given by us in given direction with the given speed or given time for specific distance. We have placed Time Controls along the route with Marshals where you MUST stop. Request to use id: mandeep_dhingra@hotmail.com for any queries from participants or any communication to COC. Valid RC/TC Books of the vehicle. Valid Insurance policy. Valid Driving License of all the Drivers. Special Rally Insurance (will be issued by the same branch where your vehicle is insured). Special Rally Participation License (Issued by FMSCI online). Passport size photograph of each crew member. Valid Pollution clearance for the vehicle. All electrical components of the vehicle must be working. All Seat belts. Pen, Calculator and Digital watch. 3

5 Road Book Set of instructions to help you navigate the rally route Road Book comprises of: Odometer reading since the start of rally (Total distance) Odometer reading since the last instruction (Part distance) Schematic giving you driving directions: go left, right etc. Additional information to aid navigation, may be provided: condition of road, caution signs, some landmarks,etc. Speed: Speed prescribed over a distance that competitors need to maintain Road Book Schematic Schematics are self explanatory Ball and Arrow arrangement, where ball depicts your current position and arrow shows the direction to take Ball is ALWAYS at bottom of schematic 5

8 Road Book Instructions - Sample Odometer Zero the trip Start and as per Road Book instruction Car odometer and Road book odometer may not always match The difference between the car odometer and Road book occurs due to: size of tyres, air pressure, line of driving etc. This difference can mislead you and you may lose your way 8

9 How to Stay on Route? At every Road book instruction note down the car odometer reading Compare both and note down the difference At the next instruction, add or subtract the distance from the Road Book as the case may be This action compensates the difference in odometers and helps you stay on course What is a Speed Chart? A Speed Chart prescribes speeds between two locations. It also gives the time for Free zones during the rally. It is given as a Separate sheet at the start of every Leg. This TSD rally comprises of Leg 1 and Leg 2. BEGIN END SPEED (KMPH) FREE ZONE 20 Mins

10 What is a Time Card? Time Card gives details of your team, competition no, name of the driver, navigator, etc. Time Card tracks your performance during the rally Given to you at start of rally and must be submitted to a marshal at end of rally Competitors must not write anything on the Time Card Time Card records information such as Start Time, Check in Time, Restart Time, Marshal s signature etc. Competitors must carry a digital clock with the seconds field display Before the rally starts, this clock must be synchronised with the GPS, example mobile clock Time Card - Sample 10

11 What is Time Control? Time Control (TC) TC is a point where you MUST stop to record time TC is an Undisclosed location on the rally route to check if you are on time at that point TC is Identified by a board with red clock, placed on the left side of the road The Marshal at every TC carries a stop clock and freezes time as the front wheel of the car passes the TC board Entry is permitted into every TC only from one side Marshal notes down Check in Time on Time Card and Marshal s Card Competitor must check entry in Marshal s Card and sign against it Marshal is the final authority on Check in Time Time you start after a TC (Restart time) is based on rally regulations Ex: same as check in. 11

12 Penalties At the end of each Leg, penalties are calculated from the Marshall s Time Card Penalties are: 1 sec for 1 sec late entry 2 sec for 1 sec early entry Further penalties, vary for different rallies: Entry from wrong direction into Time Control Stopping before a Time Control or driving very slow (crawling) Arguing with Marshal Please check the SR for all penalties What is a Free Zone and Free Run Free Zone Time given in Road Book or Speed Chart, between certain distances, where TCs will not be present You must be on time at the end of Free Zone Free Run Usually at end of rally, to reach last instruction Can reach there early, but never late, however please maintain given speeds for safety 12

13 How to stay on time? T (Time)= D(Distance) x 60/ S(Speed) Example: BEGIN END SPEED (KMPH) A B C mins 3 mins 10 mins Do s and Dont s Follow traffic regulations at all times; don t over speed, drink & drive etc. Always wear your seat belts, all the inmates, safety first Rally organisers are NOT responsible for your violation of traffic and other laws Try not to lose your way, follow instructions scrupulously and you should be fine Do not change the designated driver / drivers Do not use any gadgets, mobile phones, laptops, etc. officials are observing Do not lose your Time card Do not miss any TC 13

14 Do s and Dont s Carry all original documents like the RC book, driving license, insurance, etc. Don t follow another competitor blindly Use the Free zones effectively to have a meal, visit the rest room, etc. Know your car well, know where your stepney is, know where your wheel spanner is, know where your vehicle jack is, etc. Carry enough water and fruits and dry food Do not ask Marshals about the route they may mislead you If you get lost, go back to the last point where it confirms to the Road book and follow instructions, never follow another car, you both may get lost Do s and Dont s 14
