3 ZLogs Overview ZLogs manages driver Hours of Service information, informing you of their current remaining drive time, as well as if they are in violation or not. Additionally, drivers can be managed based on location and availability with messaging directly to and from them. Live Status provides map-based information on driver location, and gives access to the details of the driver s current duty status, as well as driving conditions. View Driver Logs to check the current duty status and duty log information of your fleet s drivers. Use Driver Availability to view your drivers availability with regard to driving hours and available time on-duty. Unresolved Logs are events that occur within ZLogs that require action from the dispatcher in order to resolve.

4 ZLogs Hours-of-Service Rules As of July 2013 Property- Carrying CMV Drivers (Valid as of July 1, 2013) 11- Hour Driving Limit May drive a maximum of 11 hours a;er 10 consecu>ve hours off duty. 14- Hour Limit May not drive beyond the 14 th consecu>ve hour a;er coming on duty, following 10 consecu>ve hours off duty. Off- duty >me does not extend the 14- hour period. Rest Breaks May drive only if 8 hours or less have passed since end of driver s last off- duty or sleeper berth period of at least 30 minutes. [49 CFR mandatory in asendance >me may be included in break if no other du>es performed] 60/70- Hour On- Duty Limit May not drive a;er 60/70 hours on duty in 7/8 consecu>ve days. A driver may restart a 7/8 consecu>ve day period a;er taking 34 or more consecu>ve hours off duty. Must include two periods from 1 a.m. to 5 a.m. home terminal >me, and may only be used once per week, or 168 hours, measured from the beginning of the previous restart. Sleeper Berth Provision Drivers using the sleeper berth provision must take at least 8 consecu>ve hours in the sleeper berth, plus a separate 2 consecu>ve hours either in the sleeper berth, off duty, or any combina>on of the two. Passenger- Carrying CMV Drivers 10- Hour Driving Limit May drive a maximum of 10 hours a;er 8 consecu>ve hours off duty. 15- Hour On- Duty Limit May not drive a;er having been on duty for 15 hours, following 8 consecu>ve hours off duty. Off- duty >me is not included in the 15- hour period. 60/70- Hour On- Duty Limit May not drive a;er 60/70 hours on duty in 7/8 consecu>ve days. Sleeper Berth Provision Drivers using a sleeper berth must take at least 8 hours in the sleeper berth, and my split the sleeper berth >me into two periods provided neither is less than 2 hours. NOTE: See 49 CFR 395.1(h) for State of Alaska HOS Regulations CMV Drivers should always use safe driving practices. For more information visit

In a moving property- carrying CMV, does not include up to 2 hours in passenger seat immediately before or a;er 8 consecu>ve hours in sleeper berth. Driving (or allowing a driver to drive) more than 3 hours beyond the driving- >me limit may be considered an egregious viola>on and subject to the maximum civil penal>es. Also applies to passenger- carrying drivers. 7 ZLogs Checking Driver Status In Violation At Risk On Duty Driving Sleeper Berth Off Live status displays each driver on the map with an icon. Positioning the mouse over the icon will display the drivers details. State refers to a driver s condition with regards to HOS violation, while Status refers to a driver s duty condition.

8 ZLogs Checking Driver Status Clicking on a drivers icon on the map will display the driver status pop-up.

9 ZLogs Checking Driver Status Only drivers assigned to the dispatcher (HOSDispatch permission) currently logged in can be seen. If a user with the HOSAdmin permission is logged in, select each dispatcher from the drop down menu to display the associated drivers. NOTE: Drivers will not show up in this view unless they are logged into the 2020.

10 ZLogs Sending Drivers a Message Send message on the Driver Status pop-up will open the New Message pop-up with that driver already in the Add field. New Message from the live status page under Today s Messages will open the New Message pop-up without a driver in the Add field. A new message can be sent to one or all of the drivers associated with the Dispatcher that is logged in. NOTE: Only users with dispatcher permissions may send messages to drivers with these buttons.

11 ZLogs Sending Drivers a Message When sending a driver a message, it is possible to include a physical address such as: Cascade Ave S Tukwila WA Entering an address will display as a link inside of the messaging application on the 2020, allowing the driver to tap the link and automatically open the Navigation application with the destination pre-populated. NOTE: Address format should be formatted as the above example.

12 ZLogs Searching for Drivers Specific Status Use Driver Availability to view your drivers availability with regard to driving hours and available time on-duty. The search allows for filtering based on the drivers status or by the drivers name. Status: Displays the current violation status of the driver. The driver is able and free to drive. The driver is in violation of HOS rules. State: Displays the current duty state of the driver based off of the duty status abbreviations. Driving On Duty Not Driving Sleeper Berth Off Duty Personal Conveyance (Personal conveyance indicates a vehicle in motion while a driver is off-duty) NOTE: Drivers cannot be selected in this view, only noted with the checkbox. The checkboxes allow users to filter out drivers, and then export the filtered list to CSV or PDF.

13 ZLogs Adding a Driver Log Occasionally, a dispatcher may need to add a log to their driver(s). To do so, select a driver while in the Driver Logs tab and select Add Log. The dispatcher can then add an entry that contains the Time, Status, Location and any notes. NOTE: Logs can only be added as a single day, they cannot be added for weeks or months worth of logs.

14 ZLogs Adding a Driver Log Multiple Entries Understanding log entries and how to add more than one at a time will save time and frustration. NOTE: Log entries consist of a start time only, they do not define a range. This log example would require two entries: One Duty at 9:00am One ON at 10:00am If the dispatcher wanted to additionally show that the driver was OFF at 5:00pm, they would need an additional log entry: One OFF at 5:00pm

15 ZLogs Adding a Driver Log Exemptions After clicking on the pencil icon in the Edit Driver pop-up, the dispatcher has the ability to Apply exemptions. For an OFF status, the dispatcher can select: Personal Conveyance 34 Hour Reset For a D status, the dispatcher can select: Adverse Driving Condition NOTE: Ensure you select the Apply checkbox next to the drop down or the exemption will not apply when clicking save.

16 ZLogs Editing a Driver Log Editing a drivers log can be done by clicking on the Edit Log button or the pencil icon next to the log entry. Clicking on the pencil icon will open the same dialogue, however, the entry will be in the edit mode. NOTE: In order to edit logs, the user must have dispatcher permissions enabled. Admin privileges only allow viewing of logs.

17 ZLogs Editing a Driver Log From the Edit Driver Log pop-up, the dispatcher can add in load information, add log entries or edit existing entries. Once all of the necessary changes have been made, click Save/Send to Driver. The driver will then verify the changes made and will be sent back for final approval.

18 ZLogs Adding Shipping Information The dispatcher may want to associate specific shipping information to a new or existing log entry. Clicking Add Load from within the Edit Driver Log pop-up will allow shipping information to be appended to the Driver.

19 ZLogs Resolving Logs There are two types of unresolved logs: 1. Pending Edits are requests for edits that drivers have sent to dispatch. 2. Unknown Drivers represents vehicles in motion without a known driver logged in. NOTE: In order to resolve logs, the user must have dispatcher permissions enabled. Admin privileges only allow viewing of unresolved logs.

20 ZLogs Resolving Logs Unknown Drivers The ZLogs application will detect when the vehicle is moving with an unknown driver. To resolve this issue, the dispatcher must determine who was driving the vehicle and report it to GTC. To resolve an unknown driver: 1. Click the empty text book under Driver associated with the incident you wish to resolve. 2. Type the name of the driver into the box. The text box will autocomplete based off of the names of drivers associated with the account. If the correct name appears, click on it to fill in the box instantly. 3. Once a name has been entered, click save. NOTE: In order to resolve logs, the user must have dispatcher permissions enabled. Admin privileges only allow viewing of unresolved logs.

21 ZLogs Resolving Logs Pending Edits Drivers may request edits to their duty status or log. In order to resolve these logs, the dispatcher must approve or reject the proposed edit to the driver s status. To resolve a pending edit: 1. Select View from the Options column of the driver with the pending edit. 2. Click on an entry, perform any edits to the log or status as necessary and click the save for that entry. 3. Once all the necessary changes to the driver s log/status have been made, select Save/Send to Driver. These changes are sent to the driver for confirmation. NOTE: In order to resolve logs, the user must have dispatcher permissions enabled. Admin privileges only allow viewing of unresolved logs.

22 ZLogs Export Logs to PDF A dispatcher can export a drivers log to a PDF file which can be sent to law enforcement or other requesting party. Select the driver logs for Day, Week, or Month and then click on the Export button. In week mode, each day from the one week prior (eight days total) to the selected date will be exported as it s own page including all related information such as edits and annotations.
