Torque is twisting power, the power that you actually feel on acceleration. Peak torque is always generated at lower engine speeds than peak power. The availability of high torque at low rpm is a very desirable attribute in an ATV as it optimises traction. Yamaha s 4-stroke ATV engines are all designed specifically for use in our Utility ATV models and produce high torque at low rpm. Auto CVT-type transmission Yamaha s Ultramatic transmission automatically provides the optimum drive ratio so instant power is always available. A sprag clutch engages when slowing down, giving downhill engine braking to the driven wheels, for controlled descents. Lock On-Command 2WD/ and front differential lock Yamaha s push-button On-Command TM 2WD/ system lets you switch between drive modes, giving near-instantaneous transition from cruising to climbing. Pushing the Red button in selects. Some models also feature a erential Lock which acts on the front wheels to give added traction in extreme conditions. EFI Yamaha Electronic Fuel Injection The EFI system in a Yamaha utility ATV works with a micro-computer to ensure that a precisely metered flow of fuel/air mixture enters the engine s combustion chamber at all times and under all conditions, to deliver an optimised mix of smooth power and economy. The Grizzly 450, 550 and 700 models include a Park position which mechanically locks the gearbox to prevent the wheels turning.
