3 THE COMPANY Most of our products have been developed in collaboration with our customers, following their needs and giving them support from the development process to the after sales service. SAFIM company is located in a factory plant of 10,000 sqm located in Modena, an important industrial district of Italy. Since 1999 we attended the Quality System ISO 9001 certifi cation, and we have traceability of the whole production chain. Since 2006 we attended the Environmental Management System ISO certifi cation. In 2008 we have installed a photovoltaic system of over 200 kw power in our factory plant. SAFIM S.p.A. was founded in 1977 by brothers Eronne and Omer Mamei, who have seen in those years the opportunity to enter the Italian market of earth moving brake by proposing an effective improving solution replacing the diffused master cylinders with air-operated booster with the better solution of master cylinders with hydraulic servo booster. The market reaction was good, and SAFIM from small company has grown year after year becoming an important industrial company with customers all over the world and with a wide range of braking solutions proposed. The SAFIM constant growth is due to the company focus to customers. 2 3

4 ENGENEERING Core of our company is the engineering team. Our technicians have experience on the fi eld and have constant contact with the customers and production. This makes it possible to obtain the quality and fl exibility that the market needs. The usual way we approach a new project starts with understanding the customer requirements, and then we begin a technical interaction with the customer that could result in a new product, or in a standard solution customization for the specifi c use in the customer s vehicle. 5 We pay more and more attention to the production. There are several production process to keep in control, from machining to washing, from honing to grinding. 6 ASSEMBLY Assembling is the fi nal process of the production chain, but it s one of the most important. Know-how, training and responsibility of SAFIM people are the values that represent a great plus. The infrastructures are important as well, as always try to improve and adapt the work fl ow; for example our actual plant is equipped with a automatic warehouse to feed the assembling line, and assembling lines are specifi cally studied to take advantage from this facilities. 7 TESTING We focus our attention starting from raw material and casting control, up to the fi nal quality inspection and testing, We work in partnership with our suppliers as they are strictly integrated in our work process; this allow us to guarantee a constant quality level of production. Our assembling line is part of that control, as a specifi c inspection is done on every part. New automatic in-line test equipments give for most of the production a 100% fi nal test inspection. 8 EARTH MOVING EQUIPMENT Earth moving equipment was our fi rst application fi eld, and it s still one of most important. Driving an earth moving vehicle, the frequency of braking is the highest, as loading operations result in a continuous start-stop cycle. For this reason a very precise and comfortable brake is request. Specifi c equipments, like hydraulic inching or electric sensors, can be added to improve the brake performance. Our production cover all the braking applications, from the smallest to the larger vehicle. Production range cover a wide range of master cylinder, starting from step-bore solution for small vehicle up to boosted assisted master cylinder for the medium size machine. Production includes power brake valve solutions for the high-spec and the larger vehicles, with several confi guration of brake valve, pedal or handle operated, and a variety of proposals for accumulator feeding. Now we propose new solutions for the hydraulic system feeding, like Master Priority Valve, which makes order in hydraulic system by feeding with a single pump, steering, brakes and working equipment. 9 AGRICULTURAL EQUIPMENT Form the 90 s we had an important role in this market with our production of trailer braking valves for tractors and brake cylinders for trailer, both for Italian and European markets. Now agricultural equipment is a constantly growing market, with leading edge research oriented to improving performance, comfort, and fuel effi ciency. For this reason our last generation of trailer brake valve named Plug & Brake integrates the energy saving feature and automatically turnoff when the trailer is not plugged, saving fuel and avoiding oil heating. In recent years we expanded our market presence offering a new generation of priority valves, based on the Master Priority Valve concept, that ensures a better energy effi ciency, and improved safety of the hydraulic system. For tractor service brake, we offer, in addition to step-bore and boosted dual master cylinder, a new dual cross circuit steering assist brake valve. This valve follows the market request of performance increase, looking forward to a larger diffusion of high speed tractor. COMPLETE PEDAL UNIT. 10 MATERIAL HANDLING Fork-lift, reach-stacker, container handling, and airport vehicles, all need optimized brake accuracy, feeling, and comfort. The driver has to be able to control in the better way the brake action, as he needs to work fast with different load condition of the vehicle. Our products, from master cylinder to the brake valve, can be set to better adapt to the specifi c characteristic of each machine. Our production includes inching valves and sensors embedded in the braking system, as well as specifi c valves for the braking control in vehicle with stability problem due to the load conditions.
