Greatly experienced in the railway industry for development and application of Company strategies. WORK EXPERIENCE 2003 to present day. Patentes TALGO, S.L.U. General Industrial Director In charge of Talgo s industrial activity, covering technical management, production management, maintenance management and project management, as well as public relations with Renfe clients and worker s unions. Throughout these years we have developed, manufactured and or put into operation the following trains: Talgo 350, Talgo 250, Talgo 250 Hybrid, Talgo Kazakhstan, Talgo USA (Series 8), Talgo Bosnia, Talgo Uzbekistan, Talgo Russia, Talgo Saudi Arabia and the Avril prototype. The fact that several of these projects overlapped over several years is also worth highlighting. Página 1

2 We manufacture all of Spain s high speed and very high speed trains (91 trains in total). The first high speed train loaded with passengers was manufactured by Talgo and began operation in During this period, 13 high speed electric trains were transformed into self-propelled electric trains with hybrid technology, which allows for them to circulate on high speed alternating current lines; conventional electrified direct current lines; and non-electric lines when in diesel mode. In order to face these production challenges, he headed the expansion of production capability of our Factory at Rivabellosa (Álava), which shifted its capacity from an annual 110 cars until 2002; to 220 cars from there onwards; and 440 cars a year in Additionally, our Factory at Las Matas 2 (Madrid), was commissioned with manufacturing train locomotives with Talgo Technology, building our first High Speed Locomotive in He has led the design and launch of Talgo s new factories and maintenance centres worldwide. During this time, a workshop was set-up in Wisconsin, to assemble and refine cars for an order of 4 trains for the States of Washington and Oregon. In Astana, we built the first Talgo train factory which reproduced overseas, the production processes in Talgo Spain. Likewise, we launched the following maintenance centres: Santa Catalina (Madrid); Los Prados (Málaga); Fuencarral (Madrid); Casa Antúnez (Barcelona); Tashkent (Uzbekistan); Moscow (Russia); Astana and Almaty (Kazakhstan). The high speed train for Saudi Arabia, developed and manufactured by Talgo, is the first high speed train circulating through the desert under the extreme conditions of sand and extremely high temperature. His extensive input in commercial tenders resulted in the award of a maintenance contract for our two projects in Kazakhstan: 440 narrow body shell cars and 603 wide body shell. He intervened directly in the contract award of high speed train supply for our project in Saudi Arabia. He led the management and achievement of a supply tender for 15 non-variable gauge and 15 variable gauge trains, for Renfe (our client). He also led the award of another tender with Renfe for the refurbishment of 13 high speed sleepers (overnight trains) with variable gauge, with a potential opening for six more trains. Página 2

3 From 2008 to 2013, he simultaneously held the positions of General Industrial Director and President of Tarvia, S.A., a railway maintenance company owned by Renfe (49%) and Talgo (51%). During these years, this Mixed Company was focused on maintenance for 46 Talgo 350 trains, thus successfully concluding the company s entire trajectory to Patentes TALGO, S.A. General Maintenance Director He was in charge of Talgo s maintenance activity. He led Talgo s entrance into Asia in 2001, by launching into operation the first train in Kazakhstan, for the Almaty-Chimken Line, and by furbishing the Almaty Maintenance workshop. This activity began with a team composed of Spanish and Kazak personnel, being directly involved in their selection and training. The exceptional service offered motivated the procurement of 2 more trains which began operating the Almaty-Astana Line in Weather conditions for this line were indeed extreme (-50ºC), yet once again, Talgo team s outstanding response culminated in our Kazak client placing a new order of 440 Talgo cars to Patentes TALGO, S.A. General Industrial Director He was responsible for Talgo s production, maintenance and commissioning divisions in Berlin (Germany) and Seattle (USA). With regards to the launching of our Berlin maintenance centre, he was the top supervisor for the workshop s construction work and its follow-up, as well as for its furbishing. This required him on site in Berlin on a fortnightly basis. Likewise, he was directly in charge of German personnel selection and their training in Spain, as well as leading the dialogue with German railway executives. Launching of maintenance in Seattle was achieved with precarious technical resources, even without a workshop. However, with a team of 12 cohesive and committed members, we managed to offer maintenance services which allowed for the daily commercial operation of trains with a 100% availability, standing out against the American railway operator (Amtrak), who was only capable of operating 30% of its trains (approximately), with the remaining 70% completely halted in their workshops. This team was highly esteemed in the State of Washington, being received with all honours by the State Governor. Página 3

4 His management and vision, which he gave to Talgo in USA, materialized in the Procurement of 5 trains for the states of Washington and Oregon. These trains were manufactured in Rivabellosa and were finished in Seattle at an American factory which had to be adapted to Talgo s needs. He was also responsible for transport logistics for the cars manufactured in Spain as well as American personnel selection. In his frequent trips to USA he established a very close relationship with the State s Transport Department as well as with Amtrak. In 1997, he led the construction and furbishing of our first maintenance workshop in Seattle (USA), as well as personnel selection and training. In 1999, Talgo s first variable gauge locomotive is built in Aravaca, breaking the world s speed record in 2000 for a diesel locomotive (256 Km/h). This locomotive constitutes Adif s diesel labtrains. Yet another achievement during this period was the leadership and direct implication in the Las Matas Factory construction work, with 26,700 square metres, ready for the purposes of heavy maintenance, test rigs for testing, car manufacture and, for the first time ever in Talgo, locomotive manufacture to Patentes TALGO, S.A. Production Director He took charge, for the first time, of production activities in Rivabellosa (Álava) whilst leading maintenance activities developed in the Aravaca (Madrid), San Andrés Condal (Barcelona) and Las Matas I (Madrid) centres. He spearheaded Talgo s first international experience in Germany, with a client who had extremely rigorous and high quality standards. The relationship he established with our German client (DB) stood out very particularly, with trips on a fortnightly basis allowing for the commissioning of Berlin-Munich & Berlin-Bonn trains. With the production of these trains, Talgo reached a milestone in the field of electronics, static converters and overall services. Página 4

5 The German State Railway Company (DB) was very satisfied with our train quality and the way in which the Talgo s team fitted in when in Germany. He kept striving to improve collective bargaining, focusing most of his work on the factory to Patentes TALGO, S.A. Deputy Director Responsible for all of Talgo s maintenance activities. Led the commencement of activities for international Series 6 tilting trains, offering services from Barcelona to Zurich, Milan and Paris. Several difficulties were encountered during this period: Managing work teams and material resources for the three operational maintenance centres in Spain, Las Matas 1 (Madrid), Pueblo Nuevo and San Andrés Condal (Barcelona). The opening of commercial activity for Series 6 trains, which required an enormous effort to solve the high number early breakdowns, derived commissioning of new trains. The design and launching of the maintenance centre in San Andrés Condal (Barcelona), which involved moving staff and equipment. This workshop replaced the older one at Pueblo Nuevo. Led the implementation of a maintenance model which responded to the need of reducing train waiting time at maintenance workshops, which required the added effort to optimize work processes to this end to Patentes TALGO, S.A. Centre Director (Las Matas I) He took charge of the Las Matas I maintenance centre, at a time when worker s unions in Spain were undergoing serious change, and which proved to be critical within the industrial sector. His main achievements were to successfully stabilize industrial and union relations with Talgo, thus managing to gain the trust of most workers in favour of the Company. The Series 4 and 5 tilting trains were maintained and operated in this centre to Patentes TALGO, S.A. Centre Director (Barcelona) Página 5

6 When he was 27, he undertook responsibility for the maintenance centre at Pueblo Nuevo (Barcelona), from which Talgo III-RD trains were maintained and operated and offered services from Barcelona to Genève and Paris. One of his achievements was to increase production by 30%, all this with an optimized staff, reducing working times and pushing for the search for new activities for electrical and mechanical teams. Additionally, he led the assembly and operation of the first train tunnel washer at a maintenance centre, with dedicated staff. He also undertook public relations amongst different clients, Renfe in Catalonia, SNCF (France) and SBB (Switzerland) to Patentes TALGO, S.A. Chief of Rolling Stock Control He took charge of Talgo III train rolling stock and Talgo locomotives which were maintained at the Aravaca workshops (Madrid), working while at the same time completing his Industrial Engineering studies at ICAI. His greatest achievement here was to increase train wheel service life by 25% to Patentes TALGO, S.A. Maintenance Engineering He performed engineering tasks for the design of tools, equipment, engine follow-ups, etc. at the engineering office of the workshop in Aravaca (Madrid). During this period he continued to work whilst completing his studies at ICAI School of Engineering to Patentes TALGO, S.A. Maintenance Technician He performed maintenance tasks for AC units, Rolling stock, guiding systems, couplings, etc. Whilst working, he was also studying his degree at ICAI School of Engineering, studying during the night shift in order to combine it with his full-time work. From the outstanding results of all the tasks he was given, and constantly undertaking more complex work, he promoted from Grade 3 to Grade 1 in a 2 year record time. Página 6
