1 age wattsmart 1 of Business Wyoming Incentive Catalog Effective as of January 1, 2016 Lighting Technologies Rocky Mountain Power provides incentives for many types of energy-efficient technologies. Please read the following sections carefully to ensure that you follow the appropriate steps for securing your incentive. Equipment must be permanently installed and may be subject to inspection prior to incentive approval. Incentives for additional measures may be available. For more information about the wattsmart Business program, eligibility requirements, incentive levels or other general inquiries, contact a wattsmart Business vendor or Rocky Mountain Power. You can visit the program website at wattsmart.com and inquire online, or you can call our energy services hotline at HIGH-EFFICIENCY LIGHTING RETROFITS Measure description: Lighting retrofit projects are one of the most common and effective energy conservation opportunities available to commercial and industrial customers. Applicability: Changes, modifications, or additions to lighting systems or equipment in existing square footage. Retrofit lighting projects generally do not significantly alter lighting system layouts or light levels. Lighting system redesign that significantly alters system layouts and/or light levels or is driven by changes to space use, space occupancy or occupant requirements may not be eligible for retrofit lighting incentives. Please contact us for any questions regarding retrofit lighting eligibility. It is expected that retrofitted lighting systems meet industry standards applicable to the space(s) and use type(s) associated with the project. Equipment eligibility: Rocky Mountain Power offers prescriptive or custom incentives for qualifying lighting equipment. To be eligible for the incentives listed in Table 1a, an incentive offer must be issued on or after January 1, The new lighting system must use less energy than the existing/baseline lighting system. Prescriptive incentives are offered for common lighting improvements as shown in Table 1a and are subject to project incentive caps. Custom incentives may be offered for lighting retrofits for an upgrade that is not listed in Table 1a, is NRTL certified, and saves energy over an existing/ baseline fixture. Custom incentives equal $0.15/kWh annual energy savings and are subject to project incentive caps. Incentive caps apply to both prescriptive and custom incentives. The eligible incentive will be limited to 70 percent of the eligible project costs and will also be capped to maintain a simple payback greater than or equal to 1 year (including incentives). Energy Efficiency project costs and energy savings are subject to Rocky Mountain Power approval. Prequalification required? Yes. Contact a wattsmart Business vendor or Rocky Mountain Power to get started. A pre-installation inspection of existing lighting may be required. Ensure that a wattsmart Business incentive offer has been issued before you sign any purchase orders for equipment or installation services. Note: Rocky Mountain Power has a lighting calculation worksheet used to calculate project-specific energy savings, project economics and eligible incentives for retrofit lighting projects. Lighting calculation worksheets are available through wattsmart Business vendors participating in our Energy Efficiency Alliance (EEA) or by contacting Rocky Mountain Power. 2 HIGH-EFFICIENCY LIGHTING RETROFITS (CONTINUED) Items to submit prior to incentive payment: In addition to the items required for the project pre-approval, invoices with itemized labor and materials representative of actual costs incurred by the participant are required to be submitted before incentive payment will be made. Information on lamp and ballast recycling: Fluorescent and High-Intensity Discharge (HID) lighting contains trace amounts of mercury and other toxic materials. Lamps and ballasts should always be disposed of properly in accordance with state and federal regulations. Please consult with the Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality Solid and Hazardous Waste Division. Information can be found on their website: Table 1a. To be eligible for the incentives listed, the new lighting system must use less energy than the existing lighting system replaced or the baseline lighting system as determined by Rocky Mountain Power. 2. Incentives are capped at 70 percent of eligible Energy Efficiency Project Costs and will not be available to reduce the Energy Efficiency Project simple payback below one year. Energy Efficiency Project Costs are subject to Rocky Mountain Power approval. 3. Two-foot U-tube lamps may be substituted for 4 ft linear fluorescent lamps. 4. Incentives for T8 Fluorescent Premium Delamps may not be combined with other linear fluorescent lamp or fixture incentives. Complete fixture removals are not eligible. 5. Incentives for T8 and T5 Fluorescent Relamps may not be combined with other linear fluorescent lamp or fixture incentives and will only be paid once per facility. 6. Qualified equipment lists referenced in the above table are posted on the Wyoming energy efficiency program section of Rocky Mountain Power s website. 7. LED fixtures must be listed on the approved products list on at least one of the following websites: ENERGY STAR : DesignLights Consortium: Lighting Design Lab: Qualified make and model numbers need to be entered into lighting worksheet 8. The Customer or Owner may receive only one financial incentive from Rocky Mountain Power per measure. LED incentives listed in the table above cannot be combined with incentives received either through the point of purchase LED Instant Incentive offer or Home Energy Savings program. 9. Incentives paid at $0.15/kWh annual energy savings. LED energy savings are subject to approval by Rocky Mountain Power. 10. Custom lighting incentives will be the product of multiplying Rocky Mountain Power s estimate of annual energy savings by $0.15/kWh and will be offered at Rocky Mountain Power s sole option. Energy Efficiency Project costs are subject to Rocky Mountain Power approval. Certain lighting technologies/upgrades have been deemed ineligible for incentives. See the Lighting Equipment Not Eligible For Retrofit Incentives section at the end of this catalog. 11. 4 RETROFIT LIGHTING CONTROLS Measure description: Lighting Controls help reduce energy use by turning off lighting equipment when it is not needed. Applicability: Retrofit applications only. Equipment eligibility: Rocky Mountain Power offers prescriptive incentives for qualifying installations of lighting controls. Equipment must be purchased and installed on or after December 1, 2014 in order to be eligible for the incentives listed in this catalog. All retrofit lighting control incentives and energy savings are calculated per lighting watt controlled. Daylighting and Advanced Daylighting controls are eligible for incentives only within daylighting zones. Daylighting zones are determined as described in IECC 2009*. It is recommended that program start ballasts be installed where occupancy sensors are used to control fluorescent lighting. Prescriptive incentives are offered for lighting controls as shown in Table 2 and are subject to project incentive caps. Custom incentives may be offered for lighting controls for an upgrade that is not listed in Table 2. Custom incentives for lighting controls require pre-qualified, custom analysis and are subject to project incentive caps. Contact us at for additional information. Prequalification is recommended, but not required for controls only retrofit projects involving the control types listed in Table 2 wherein lighting controls are added to existing equipment. Prequalification is required for controls installed as part of a lighting retrofit project and for custom incentives. For projects involving both lighting controls and fixtures, contact us or a wattsmart Business vendor prior to purchasing equipment. This applies to projects with custom incentives as well. 6 LED SIGNAGE (NON-GENERAL ILLUMINANCE) (RETROFIT ONLY) Measure description: Incentives for non-general illuminance are available for signage using LED technology. Incentives are available for four types of LED signs: LED Message Center Sign, LED Channel Letter Sign, LED Marquee/Cabinet Sign and Exit Sign. Incentives for LED traffic light installations are not available. Message Center Signs display text and are commonly found on storefronts, restaurants and arenas. Channel Letters are individually illuminated letters and graphics that are typically found on storefronts. Marquee/Cabinet signs illuminate translucent signs from within. Exit Signs direct people to the nearest building exit. Applicability: Only retrofit projects may be eligible for incentives listed in Table 3. In order to qualify for incentives, LED Message Center Signs must replace incandescent signage, LED Channel Letter Signs must replace neon or fluorescent signage, LED Marquee/Cabinet Signs must replace fluorescent signage, and LED Exit Signs must replace incandescent or fluorescent exit signs. Custom incentives may be available for other signage lighting than listed in Table 3 which is NRTL certified and saves energy over an existing/ baseline fixture. Custom incentives require pre-approval and are subject to project incentive caps. Contact us prior to purchasing equipment. Equipment eligibility: To qualify for the incentives listed in this catalog, equipment must be purchased and installed on or after December 1, 2014 and meet all other program terms and conditions. LED products must be certified by a Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL). Items to submit with a copy of the wattsmart Business general application: 1. A copy of the completed Lighting- Post-purchase application supplement. 2. All other documentation as requested in the application supplement. Prequalification required? No. Incentives are available via a post-purchase incentive application process. Prequalification is recommended, but not required to receive incentives. Custom lighting incentives will be the product of multiplying Rocky Mountain Power s estimate of annual energy savings by $0.15/kWh and will be offered at Rocky Mountain Power s sole option. 7 LED REFRIGERATED CASE LIGHTING (RETROFIT ONLY) Measure description: Fixtures within refrigerated reach-in display cases are used to display refrigerated products. Replacing existing fluorescent lighting with energy efficient LED light bars reduces total lighting wattage and heat gain in the refrigerated space. Applicability: Retrofit projects only may be eligible for incentives. LED technology must replace fluorescent lamps. Equipment eligibility: Equipment must be purchased and installed and meet all other program terms and conditions. LED fixtures and bulbs must be listed on the approved products list on at least one of the following websites: Design Lights Consortium: Lighting Design Lab: Items to submit with a copy of the wattsmart Business general application: 1. A copy of the completed Lighting- Post-purchase application supplement or Food Service Refrigerated Case Lighting application supplement. 2. Applicability: Retrofit projects only may be eligible for incentives. Equipment must be installed in an existing refrigerated case with existing LED lighting or as part of an LED case lighting retrofit. Equipment eligibility: Occupancy sensor control equipment must be purchased and installed and meet all other program terms and conditions. This measure is intended for refrigerated cases only. Items to submit with a copy of the wattsmart Business general application: 1. A copy of the completed Lighting- Post-purchase application supplement or Food Service Refrigerated Case Lighting application supplement. 2. 8 NEW CONSTRUCTION/MAJOR RENOVATION HIGH-EFFICIENCY LIGHTING (INTERIOR) Measure description: Installing high-efficiency lighting during construction can be a cost-effective means of saving electricity. Applicability: 1. New Construction: A newly constructed facility or newly constructed square footage added to an existing facility. 2. Major Renovation: A change in facility use type or where the existing system will not meet owner/customer projected requirements within existing facility square footage. Please contact us for any questions regarding construction type classification. It is expected that new construction or major renovation lighting systems meet industry standards applicable to the space(s) and use type(s) associated with the project. Interior equipment eligibility: In order to qualify for incentives, the new construction/major renovation project must be completed and meet all other program terms and conditions as listed in Table 4. The whole building s total connected interior lighting power (watts/square foot) must be 10 percent lower than the interior lighting power allowance calculated under IECC 2009*. Items to submit with a copy of the wattsmart Business general application: 1. A copy of the completed Lighting- Post-purchase application supplement. 2. All other documentation as requested in the application supplement. If required, individual measure incentives will be adjusted downward pro-rata so the project has a simple payback after incentives of one year. Pre-approval for exterior lighting in new construction/major renovation is strongly recommended, but not required. Approval of custom incentives is at the sole option of Rocky Mountain Power.
