8 FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS 1. Can I purchase a Ninebot by Segway One S1 (One S1) now? Yes. The One S1 is available on Amazon now and will be available at major and specialty brick and mortar retailers in early Is the One S1 a Segway or Ninebot product? Both. Segway Inc. was purchased by Ninebot Limited in April Can anyone ride the One S1? No. Believe it or not, we specifically say that it s not for everyone. We target it at riders that are 16 to 50 years old, but we find that it is particularly appealing to 16 to 26 years olds who are bold, like to try new things and love a challenge. 4. Are there any specific One S1 rider requirements? Yes. For safety reasons we recommend that riders:»» Always wear an approved bicycle or skateboard helmet that provides protection for the back of the head, as well as other protective gear, to minimize any possible injury»» Be between the ages of 16 to 50 years old»» Weigh no more than 220 pounds and be between tall 5. Is there a process to learning to ride the One S1? Yes. The User Manual and Ninebot App s New Rider Tutorial both feature Learn to Ride steps. It s important that you practice each step for at least 15 minutes every day until you re comfortable with it. Then move on to the next step and repeat the process. We recommend that riders consistently practice riding as it takes many hours to become proficient. 6. How do I use the One S1 s Ninebot App? For your safety, your new One S1 is not activated at the time of purchase, and the speed and sensitivity are set at low levels. Go to the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store and search for Ninebot to download and install the app (you ll need ios 8.0 or above, Android 4.3 or above) then follow the instructions to activate your One S1. 7. Once the Ninebot App has been downloaded, and paired with my One S1, then what? After activation, the app will lead you through the New Rider Tutorial. Please be sure to follow all the instructions in the app and the One S1 s User Manual. For your safety, the One S1 will limit the max speed to 2.5 mph before activation. After activation, and before completing the New Rider Tutorial, the max speed will be limited to 4.3 mph. For the first 0.6 miles after completing the New Rider Tutorial, the max speed will be limited to 7.5 mph, after which, you can disable the speed limiter via the app and reach a maximum speed of 12.5 mph. In addition to accessing the New Rider Tutorial and firmware updates, the app allows you to control your One S1 s safety features, customize light colors/patterns and more. 9. Has the One S1 earned any safety certifications? Yes. The One S1 is certified to UL 2272 standards, which reinforces the product s quality and safety. 10. How far and how fast can the One S1 go? The One S1 can travel up to 15 miles on a single charge and reach speeds of up to 12.5 mph. 11. Do I need to keep air in my One S1 s tire? Yes. The One S1 s tire is inflated and designed to perform best at 35 PSI. You should test tire pressure regularly to ensure your tire is inflated to the recommended level. 12. What type of batteries does the One S1 use? The standard One S1 (with a capacity of 310 Wh) has two lithium-ion batteries (155 Wh), one on either side. 13. How much time is needed to charge the One S1 before my first ride? Charging the One S1 s batteries to full capacity requires 4 hours. After the initial full charge, the One S1 s battery charge may be topped-off at any time. 14. Can the One S1 s batteries be removed? Yes. However, removing a battery can be dangerous. You risk personal injury from electric shock. If you are not comfortable removing the battery yourself, please contact your dealer/distributor or Segway at technicalsupport@segway.com. The standard One S1 has two batteries, one on either side. Removing one battery reduces the power, range and weight of the One S1. For your safety, the speed is limited when only one battery is installed. 15. What are the One S1 s dimensions and how much does it weigh? The One S1 measures 17.6 x 16.6 x 7.2 inches and weighs approximately 25 pounds. It s easy to manage and convenient to transport. 16. What is Carry Mode? Carry Mode prevents the One S1 s wheel from spinning when you lift it by the handle while it s powered on. Carry Mode allows a rider to step off the One S1, carry it across or around obstacles, then put it down and continue riding - all without having to turn the unit off. Laws vary from state to state, so be sure to check your local and state laws to ensure there are not any restrictions on riding the One S1. We recommend riding on the sidewalk when possible. 18. Can I take my One S1 on a plane, train or subway? Given the One S1 s lithium-ion batteries, it may not be permitted on an airplane due to safety and transportation policies. Always be sure to check with your airline, train or subway service for specific rules, regulations and restrictions. 19. How do I customize my One S1 s lights? Simply open the app to change the pattern and colors of the lights on either side of the One S Does the One S1 have any theft prevention features? Yes. The One S1 features a Lock Mode. When your One S1 is powered on, press the lock icon in the app to enable it. If anyone tries to move your One S1, an alarm will sound. 21. Can I store my One S1 anywhere? No. Be sure to store your One S1 in a cool, dry place. Do not store it outdoors for extended periods of time. Exposure to excessive sunlight or temperature extremes (both hot and cold) may affect its appearance, battery life and tires. 22. Who can I call with technical questions or a maintenance issue? Once the Ninebot App has been downloaded, and paired with the minipro, how can it be used? Once activated, the app will take the rider through a New Rider Tutorial. The app provides a dashboard, similar to that of a car, allowing a rider to customize light settings, lock and activate the anti-theft alarm, install software updates for the minipro as well as access customer services, troubleshooting, tips, a minipro social community and more. The app may also be used to steer an unmanned minipro remotely. 6. How does the New Rider Tutorial work? The rider must download the app to activate the minipro. The tutorial will then direct the rider through step-by-step instructions to learn to ride the unit, which require just a few minutes. The minipro will not exceed a speed of 4.3 mph until the tutorial has been completed. Once a rider has completed the tutorial, the minipro s top speed will increase, but will be limited to 6.2 mph. However, the rider may disable this speed limiter, once the minipro has traveled at least 0.6 miles, to enjoy a speed of up to 10 mph. 7. How does the minipro s remote control feature work? The app s remote control feature allows the minipro to be driven in remote control mode with complete control over its speed and turning radius. Remote control mode has a range of 30 to 50 feet and a default speed of 3.1 mph (the speed setting may be changed in the app). The minipro s frame is constructed with an aircraft-grade magnesium alloy, which is a lightweight and strong structural material that allows for load-carrying capability and maximum shock absorption. 10. How tall is the minipro and how much does it weigh? The minipro is compact at a minimum height of just 2 feet and weighs only 28 pounds. It can easily fit inside any car, be carried up stairs or lifted over obstacles. 11. Can the Knee Control Bar be adjusted to accommodate riders of different heights? Yes. The minipro s Knee Control Bar may be adjusted to between approximately 2-3 feet to ensure optimal comfort and control for most riders. 12. How fast can the minipro go? The minipro can travel at speeds of up to 10 mph. 13. How much time is needed to charge the minipro before my first ride? Charging the minipro battery to full capacity requires approximately 4 hours. After the initial full charge, the minipro battery charge may be topped-off at any time. 14. How far can the minipro travel on a single charge? The minipro can travel up to 14 miles on a single charge depending on the rider s weight, riding style, acceleration, speed and terrain. 15. What type of tires does the minipro have? The minipro has 10.5 inflatable tires, which deliver superior traction and shock absorption for a smooth ride. 16. How do I customize the lights on my minipro? Simply open the app, select Device Settings, select Light Settings and use the color wheel to customize your unit s lights. 17. Can the minipro be ridden outdoors? Yes. The minipro can travel indoors and outdoors, but while outdoors we recommend that riders remain on sidewalks, pavement or other smooth surfaces. minipro - FAQs 13

Riders should avoid steeper slopes as they may lose traction. 19. Can I take my minipro on a plane, train or subway? Given the minipro s lithium ion batteries, it may not be permitted on an airplane due to safety and transportation policies. Always be sure to check with your airline, train or subway service for specific rules, regulations and restrictions. 20. Can I ride my minipro in the street and on sidewalks? Motor vehicle laws vary from state to state, so be sure to check your local and state laws to ensure there are not any restrictions on riding the minipro. We recommend riding on the sidewalk whenever possible. 21. What is Power Assist Mode and how does it work with the Retractable Guide Bar? When the unit is powered on, with no rider onboard, and the Retractable Guide Bar is raised, the minipro will default to Power Assist Mode. This allows the unit to be guided (not pushed) up steep slopes and across potholes and other obstacles. 22. Does the minipro have lights for riding in poorly lit areas? Yes. The minipro has automatic lights for dim conditions, which cast light for 3 to 16 feet. However, Segway does not recommend riding the minipro in the dark or potentially hazardous conditions. 23. Does the minipro have any theft prevention features? Yes. Riders may use the app to enable the minipro s anti-theft function. If an attempt is made to move, lift or carry the minipro while the anti-theft feature is armed, an alarm will sound and the unit will vibrate. An additional plus -- if your smartphone is within connection range to the device, you ll receive a notification of the alarm s activation via the app. 24. Is the minipro waterproof? No. The minipro is rated IP54 water resistant, but is not completely waterproof. The minipro should not be ridden in snow, rain, wet, muddy, icy areas or through puddles or other bodies of water. 25. Do I need to keep air in the tires on my minipro? Yes. The minipro s tires are inflated and designed to perform best at 30 PSI. You should test tire pressure regularly to ensure your tires are inflated to the recommended level. 26. Who can I call with technical questions or a maintenance issue?
