3 Testing, Tools and Ground Support Equipment The dynamic components in aircraft engines and propeller systems are manufactured to very strict limits, but even when these limits are adhered to, unbalance errors can occur. These errors result from a stack up of small unbalances in the engine power train and propeller system that is installed in the aircraft. When undesirable vibration is detected, some of the components of the propulsion system, notably the propeller and spinner assembly can be spin trim balanced to improve the running vibration levels of the entire system. Balancing the propulsion assembly can provide substantial reductions in transmitted vibration and noise to the cabin and also reduces excessive damage to other aircraft and engine components. Remember that propeller smoothing is not a cure all for every vibration you feel in the aircraft. Spin trim balancing will only improve the vibration caused by mass unbalance of the externally rotating components of the propulsion system. Balancing will not improve the vibration if the engine or aircraft is in poor mechanical condition. Defective, worn, or loose parts, will make balancing impossible. 4 ANALYSERS PROPELLER TRACK & BALANCING Model 1015 ProBalancer Sport The Model 1015 ProBalancer Sport is the most economical option in the aviation propeller balancing industry and performs propeller balancing that combines the economy of an entry-level balancer with the accuracy that exceeds any capabilities available in other entry or mid level instruments. The 1015 ProBalancer Sport also incorporates the ACES Systems hallmark of ease of use. Fill-in-the- blank or option selection screens prompt you through the entire balancing process. The 1015 ProBalancer Sport s low cost, quick replaceable batteries allow you to operate without time loss. Batteries changed without fear of data loss. HELICOPTER ACCESSORIES Model 550 ACES TraX The ACES Systems Model 550 Optical ACES TraX is a state of the art, semipermanently mounted optical camera that automates the task of obtaining accurate blade track data when used in conjunction with certain ACES Systems analyzers. Our ACES TraX is lightweight, compact, semi-permanently mounted tracking, easy, convenient and quick to set up. The device provides tip path measurements without the use of tip targets or stroboscopic lights. If the aircraft has tip targets installed, you are not required to remove them in order to utilize the ACES TraX. Requires nothing added to the blades (no tip targets). Hands-free operation. 6 ACCESSORIES TURBINE ACCESSORIES Model 1752B JEDA The Model 1752B JEDA (Jet Engine Data Acquisition Module) is an engine performance module specially designed to operate with the ACES Systems 4040 Analyzers and Honeywell s MEDRA software package. The integrated 1752B package includes hardware module, EMS software, and cabling. The JEDA, combined with a 4040 Analyzer and MEDRA software, forms a complete interactive test system for performing vibration surveys, fan balancing, and engine performance testing of all TFE731 engine. Collecting data with the JEDA gives you a precise, repeatable method of measuring engine efficiency and performance. The data is accurate because it is computed in averages rather than from a single point in time. The JEDA collects averages of temperatures, pressures, and speeds from the engine and transfers the data to a personal computer. Engine performance and efficiency can be immediately plotted using the MEDRA software package. One-person operation. 7 AvTrend SOFTWARE AvTrend is software that enables ACES Systems analyzers to work in concert with a personal computer to provide enhanced printing, import/export capability, and management tools that save you time and can greatly increase your productivity. AvTrend is available for the Model 2020 ProBalancer Analyzer and the VIPER 4040 Analyzer. As part of their standard features, ACES Systems analyzers allow you to download data to a PC for storage. AvTrend software provides the ability to review the data you ve downloaded, print it, export it to give to another user. And, with the Model 2020 ProBalancer Analyzer and the VIPER 4040 analyzer, upload it back to the analyzer.
