5 Working Group Purpose Review the problems associated with enforcement and regulation of unconventional vehicles, Identify and develop strategies, policies, and best practices, Assist member jurisdictions in dealing with these types of vehicles in a uniform and consistent manner. 9 Working Group Current Initiatives Electric Vehicle Conversions: Vehicles that have been converted from gasoline power to electric power. Non-Compliant Vehicles: Rebuilt, reconstructed, homemade and re-bodied vehicles. AAMVA Official Use Only 9

10 Electric Vehicle Conversions More electric vehicles on highways due to high fuel costs and environmental concerns. 12 Electric Vehicle Conversion Issues A lack of clear and consistent standards for registration, regulation and safety enforcement. Electric vehicles pose new risks for passengers and accident responders. Concerns have also been raised regarding the safety of visually impaired pedestrians. AAMVA Official Use Only 12
