10 System Calculations 3 main factors: Power How much power (kw) is required to ensure the operation of all loads Energy How much energy (kwh) is required during a certain period typically 24h Storage For how long time is it required for the system to operate without the need for external power sources

17 Storage Type Battery Technologies: AGM, GEL, Longlife 2V OPzV, 2V OPzS and LiOn batteries. AGM and GEL is used for small applications of no more than 15 kwh per day. 2V OPzV and 2V OPzS are designed for higher currents and in particular solar installations. 18 Calculation sum up Know your power requirement (calculation or measure) Look for the maximum simultaneous load Example: 6000W max load Know your energy requirement for a 24h period (calculation or measure). Divide the found by 2,5-4 depending on local circumstance to get your PV plant size in kwp Example: Consumption is W PV requirement is minimum 60kW/4 = 15kWp (not regarding seasonal changes) Know your required storage in kw. Divide the found by discharge level and efficiency (eg 0,5 and 0,9) to get your storage. Example: Night consumption is Wh Storage is 20kWh /(0,5 x 0,9) = 45 kwh.

20 Do s and Dont s Do s: Dont s: Make correct system calculations to increase the quality of your delivered and installed system. Instruct users that lowering consumption significantly improves the system performance and TCO. Purchase a PV-Hybrid system as if it is a generator. The energy that a generator have 24 hours to generate, a PV system need to generate when daytime (or as in earlier example, during 2,5-4 hours) Suddenly think that having energy means free access to energy.
