Using high efficiency, long life LED s throughout products in this range have been designed to meet the latest needs of installers, specifiers and end users alike. Installation time and the cost of maintenance continue to be high on the list of both installers and end users. Phrases such as Fast Fit and Low Maintenance are common place in many suppliers catalogues but this only translates into benefit when the product has real features built in. Pre-wired connections, fast fit attachments, extensive cable entry points and first fix bases can be found in many products throughout our Core collection range. Of course having highly efficient products with great aesthetics is only part of the equation and so to ensure they are readily accessible we have partnered with a nationwide network of key stockists providing a high level of local availability. 6 Sourcing lighting with confidence At Eaton, as part of our R&D programme, we regularly purchase and test competitor products. A not insignificant number of these products either fail to comply with prescribed safety standards or simply do not deliver the performance advertised in their specification details. This resonates with feedback from our customer base and examples of wholesale failures and non achievement of predicted energy savings are not uncommon. We at Eaton believe this puts lives, reputations, and the credibility of the lighting industry at stake, and recommend the following 10 questions are considered when sourcing lighting. 1. Does the manufacturer or importer posess the necessary laboratory equipment to test performance and conformity? Note: more than 30% of the imported product we test fails to comply with the safety requirements called up by the Low Voltage Directive, (LVD) which covers product safety. 2. Is the performance data quoted from a production product tested by a calibrated photometer or is it from theoretical modelling? 3. Is the efficacy figure quoted in luminaire lumens per circuit watt? Beware of suppliers quoting chip efficiency or masking losses in LOR factors. 4. Are the LED chips from a reputable manufacturer are they binned, what is lifetime L70 curve etc? 5. Is the LED driver ENEC or equivalent approved? 6. Are emergency versions available and do they comply with BSEN , in addition to the basic requirements of the LVD? Emergency lighting is a life safety issue. The building operator is personally legally responsible under Fire Safety Regulations. 7. How long has the supplier been in existence, do they manufacture or purely source? 8. What are the warranty terms? Many suppliers exclude diffusers, require product to be returned to base, require registration, have severely limiting run hours etc. 9. Does the supplier have a service and technical support function in the UK? 10. Is the supplier willing, if required, to subject the product to 3 rd party testing? The alternative, of course, is to source via Eaton - your trusted partner for lighting.

22 Emergency lighting Zeta 4 small Core Zeta 4 small is a low cost LED bulkhead suitable for use as an escape route and open area luminaire, while providing extra versatility as an exit sign via the application of an optional adhesive legend kit. One and Two New Ludgate, City of London, UK One and Two New Ludgate is a prestigious development offering 345,555sq ft. of prime office space and 26,000sq ft. of retail and restaurant space within a few hundred metres of St Pauls Cathedral, formally completed and opened in Eaton s challenge was to create a linear LED solution that could be incorporated uniformly into ceiling tiles throughout the office areas to provide a consistently high quality of light. In response, Eaton designed the Priam LED family of fittings, based on an innovative cassette-style concept that would enable simple installation options in harmony with the sweeping curves that characterised the layout of the buildings. By integrating the luminaires into the ceiling tiles, they become almost unnoticeable when switched off. Incorporating the latest LED technology and micro-polymer materials, the Priam LED offers even distribution of light while eliminating the need for traditional louvred fittings that could detract from the sleek appearance of the interior.
